Have the copper thefts died down? That was a huge deal for a while....
A little bit. Copper doesn't net you as much as it once did.
In the Chicagoland area, one suburb was hit by vandals who stole manhole lids. The city engineer showed just how little scrap value they were worth, and how it would cost taxpayers at least 100x the scrap value to replace the kids.
Then again, this is the same area where people stole GPS tracked school buses and drove them to a neighboring scrap yard to scrap them.
