We Cannot Have Nice Things: Michigan Tech 2010-2011 Season Thread: Part Tre

Re: We Cannot Have Nice Things: Michigan Tech 2010-2011 Season Thread: Part Tre

stopped by Econo for my free tix. No waiting, the guy with a big stack of tickets waiting for customers looked bored.
But then, the HS regional final will be at noon Saturday at the SDC, and likely Calumet vs. Houghton; I imagine not many families will do both.

Exactly. Why the hell would you watch Tech get killed by the Sioux, when you could take the kids to a rivalry game, even if it's MI high school hockey.

Well, some of us are going to make a full day of it.

I'd rather watch Sioux captain's practice than Michigan High School hockey. Tie in a championship game, pfffft.

question

Gubb and L'Espy - does this count as their freshman year? so do they start next year as sophomores?

I see the bthc is going to start play in 2013-2014. We need to get our act together pronto!.

Re: We Cannot Have Nice Things: Michigan Tech 2010-2011 Season Thread: Part Tre

It will most likely start play. There is some anti-big10 conference discussion happening too.

NCAA coaches/AD meetings in April would be a fantastic venue to be at to watch the fireworks show.

Indeed. There are already discussions going on behind closed doors.

Even if it is delayed a year, that is not much time. WCHA needs to get a competitive TV deal put together, and decide if they are going to put their head in the sand or be proactive. I fervently hope they are aggressive. I also hope they change scheduling guidelines and are aggressive there as well.

I am already hearing this: " The bthc is the best hockey conference in the US" coming out if certain big ten schools boosters.

A little hard to sell the sport when you don't know what teams you'll have to market.

From my interpretation (I only got a snippet of information, but it was more than telling), lots of feelings are going to be hurt after re-alignment.

No doubt, it's a big commitment financially. I understand that certain schools in rural minnesota are dragging their feet.

Does kind of surprise me that Duluth would do that, St. Cloud however, eh, its understandable that they would be slow.

I wonder if Gordic can't play, or because our position can't change he's taking the weekend to heal. Anyone know? Royer will be back tomorrow after serving his suspension.

Jamie's postgame notes:
UND is an impressive hockey team, #1 for a reason
The 2nd UND goal was a tough one, a freshmen Dman got beat by Frattin
The timeout before the 4x3, we were going with Furne/Johnstone, they were tired from being on the ice
Getting Royer back tomorrow
They're a great team at blocking shots, big strong D
We turned the puck over on line rushes, need to get it it past their Defensemen, it could create turnovers
We did a better job of cycling puck in the 3rd
Evan Witt in the 3rd period especially was strong, played well with Furne and Johnstone in that period

Didn't he play against MN? I'm guessing that they're saving him up for the "playoffs".

Old joke is old.
