WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

"No Division 1 collegiate conference - in any sport - can top the impressive list of national scale accomplishments of the WCHA and its member teams."

Yes, they can.

the big 12 only won 35% of possible championships, the WCHA has won around 60% in men's and 100% in womens hockey. no comparison at all.

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

The problem is that people automatically think teams suck for losing in the national tournament and that it invalidates whatever they did in the regular season. Conference titles prove who the best teams are over the long haul. National titles prove who got hot at the right time and avoided the bad luck minefield that is the national tournament. All it takes for your season to end right now is one off night / one hot goalie / one bad bounce. That's part of the fun of this tournament, but it's also part of the frustration for the teams that are expected to make a deep run and fall short.

The Big 12 has won 57.7% of championships.

Shall we discuss the PAC-10's 77.8% dominance of softball? They've also won 42% of baseball titles.

But you go right on believing the WCHA is the best thing since sliced bread.

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

Speaking of bread, there's a brand that offers 20% of your daily fiber requirement in one slice. The bread, quite literally, is the ****.

Is it made out of ****?

You better check your math, because Oklahoma State was in the Missouri Valley Conference from 1925 to 1956, and happened to win 21 or so of their championships while in the MVC.

No, but it definitely makes you ****.

Hilariously, it's called Brownberry. Truth in advertising? I think so!

Plus it only has 16 slices per loaf and costs nearly $4. Worth every penny if you ask me. How many other breads offer you the opportunity to make a peanut butter sandwich that delivers half your daily fiber intake?

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

Congratulations on completely missing the point, dip**** - and I didn't lose to Holy Cross. The University of Minnesota lost to them.

The people who actually possess reading comprehension would be glad to tell you that the purpose of my post was to point out that #1 seeds should not be "rewarded" by being shipped to a rival's rink for a regional - particularly when that rival is also in the tournament and will be playing there. Why on earth should the 2nd overall seed have to face the possibility / likelihood of a 2nd round matchup against one of its biggest rivals in the rival's rink? Sheer idiocy.

You are a semantical genius. Actually the University of Minnesota did not lose to them. The University of Minnesota is made up of around 50,000 students plus facutly and stuaff. Actually the men's ice hockey team lost to them.

Go ahead and keep whining about how hard the "U" is and why they got/get screwed. God knows they never catch a break.

You truly are a moron and comple A--Hole. Then again your colors are moron and gold.

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

Speaking of Big East basketball is Geno Auriemma a college hockey fan?
Here's a quote from him on casual women's basketball fans.

“I could care less about the casual fan, because I bet they could care less about me and my team. I don’t worry about people who don’t worry about me,” he said. “As far as women’s basketball in general, it’s like ice hockey. Does the casual fan enjoy ice hockey? Probably not. But ice hockey fans love ice hockey. We are who we are and we attract who we attract and we’ll go with that.”

Fairly sure he is... he's from Philly.

edit: I never saw him at the connecticut ice shelf though... probably better things to do with his time.

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

So like Big East Basketball we still get a team in the Final Four? I see how it is.

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

I don't think anyone in their right mind ever said the WCHA sucks. It's obviously a very good conference. I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life so I'm a Hockey East fan. We've had some pretty good teams over here just like you have. Also remember HEA has only been around since 1984.

Thank you skipper boy. What the hell is a skipper?

Re: WCHA Hockey = Big East Basketball

They live vicariously through any Cinderella. They can't win, so they follow someone else. Plus, their Assistant Captain just left sparty for the pros.
Pretty ironic that they've won a national title MUCH more recent than your ****ty team has.
No. That number counts NCAA titles won by those schools when they were members of the WCHA. 7 of Michigan's 9 titles count for the WCHA, 2 count for the CCHA.

So, you've got:

Michigan - 7
Denver - 7
North Dakota - 7
Wisconsin - 6
Minnesota - 5
Michigan Tech - 3
CC - 2
Michigan State - 1

So, that's 38. Technically, one of Michigan and one of CC's titles pre-date the 1951 founding of the WCHA - which gives you 36 NCAA titles. Out of 60 possible seasons.
You forgot Northern Michigan, they were in the WCHA when they won in 1991.

I never said it was a bad league, I actually said otherwise...I made a very clear reference to the fact that everyone annoints the league as the holy conference of college hockey. I was simply stating that considering the hype they tend to fall short in tournament games in which they should come out on top.

Yep, 3 is better than 9 any day of the week:rolleyes:. Since you've never said who your team is (although I'm guessing NoDik) I'll just lump you in with the inferior spartys...

And I have a couple of questions. Who holds the longest consecutive D-1 Tournament appearence streak? Who has the most D-1 Titles in history?
