Re: WCHA First Round: MN @ UND

With all the talk about the Marvin hit, I think we should let it speak for itself.

Re: WCHA First Round: MN @ UND

Apparently Tony Lucia hit a fan with his stick according to someone over at Sioux sports. Again the league isn't going to give him three games. McLeod has basically said as much...

From the completely neutral view of "someone over at Sioux sports" who probably carries dead animals around in his pockets to throw at opposing players.

Re: WCHA First Round: MN @ UND

Wow. Uh...wow. No.

You're trying to give him a little pain, sure, but not injure. There is a difference. Slight, technical. But a difference.

Yeah wow no uh wow. Thats how it works buddy. And how would you know anyway? Thinking back to all those high stakes boot hockey games?

Matt Mother *ng Frattin eats babies.

MNS and I were wondering how you were going to approach the Frattin hit. :D

No, talking as a student of the game. People who say "Oh, I play(ed) the game, so I know more" are morons. One can learn and know the game without playing it. Only ignorance says otherwise.

Re: WCHA First Round: MN @ UND

I also like the hick no dak fans who cheered the wehrs injury.... Very classy, wouldn't expect anything else I guess.... Anyone else see the 70 yr old guy in the first row cheering as wehrs laid motion-less? U know u beat his wife for years.

You can learn alot from watching but you can't learn the mentality. And I'm not even saying it to prove my point, I'm saying it because its true. When you hit a guy you hope he doesn't get up. You are literally trying to injure the guy you're hitting almost eveytime. Obviously getting the hands up is not the ideal way to do it, but thats what the was trying to do.

I still am getting conflicting reports on this. On tv, they cheered when he got up, but I didn't hear them cheer after the hit/before he got up (ie: when he was obviously injured)

Like Matt Mother *ing Frattin approaches life. Knock the sh^t out of it and make it your b^tch.

I didn't think Frattin made contact to the head when I saw it, but what do I know. No idea about whether he should be suspended or not.

Speaking of things we liked, I liked it when the Gopher tackled the Sioux player onto Wehrs. Brilliant strategy to knock your opponent into your injured teammate.

Wow Gopher fans have got to be real impressed with the representation you get from this RinkPig guy. Hey Piggy, go have another one and drive home.

I've played many sports before, through high school if that matters, albeit not hockey. I know the mentality, and I know there's a difference, unless you're a dooshbag ahole. There IS a difference between wanting a guy to hurt a little, and wanting to actually injure a guy.

ExRider = Red

RinkPig = Red

You can't make this stuff up.

I liked when Kangas punched Blood square in the mush for running him. :p

But seriously, the contact to the head was really close, and after multiple replays both MNS and I still weren't sure. However, the way he left his feet and brought his arms up at the end of the hit, that made it a suspendable hit.

Re: WCHA First Round: MN @ UND

Here's the kicker about intent to injure. Almost everytime you hit a guy, you're trying to injure him. Ther are obviously you're checks to get guys off the puck but the ones where you line somebody up, you're hoping they hit the ice and stay down. Every time. When you run a guy from behind or cross check him to the head or spear him in the neck, thats a punishable intent to injure. This doesn't fall into that category.

From what I can tell, it does look like the only contact to the head was from Frattin's head. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to go in head first if your intent is to injure.

I also like the hick no dak fans who cheered the wehrs injury.... Very classy, wouldn't expect anything else I guess.... Anyone else see the 70 yr old guy in the first row cheering as wehrs laid motion-less? U know u beat his wife for years.

I know we're supposed to ignore you, but it should be noted you, in one sentence question somebody's classiness and in the next go about trivializing something like domestic abuse.

They gave him an ovation when he got up. The cheering some people keep refering to was for the scrum that was breaking out at the same time as he was down. I don't understand how people can't understand that seemingly simple fact......:confused:

Thanks. I don't think any of us had seen that yet. Way to be Johnny on the spot.:rolleyes:

If he doesn't leave his feet I don't have a problem with the hit. When guys jump it surely is an intent to injury.

That's what we thought (and I even defended the Sioux fans, shudder, during that).
