WCHA 2023-2024 Calamity Or Calmness?

Yes, the five minute major was a huge factor in the game and hurt the Badgers badly. But Ohio State had something to prove and played their best hockey of the season thus far with only a few mental errors. They tried to play at such a fast pace they got dinged for two too many men penalties but were very aggressive on the penalty kill. I would assume Saturday's game will be just as intense.

OSU had a leaving bench early, too many men in the championship, too, didn't they?

BIG week....

UW at Tosu
St Cloud Tommies home n home
MSU at BSU
MN at MN-D

I had no idea BSU MSU and Tommies have zero league points 8 games into the league schedule. Wow.

Thought about doing a tale of the tape between 1 and 2, but IF Harvey is still out, I think UW is in BIG trouble and the stats would be like looking at yesterday's weather predicting tomorrow's. I do think 2 has an advantage in goal. Gervais makes me nervous and McNaughton hasn't faced shooters this good other than in practice every day.

Hey! BSU and MSU have points now! Whoot!
St. Cloud and UMD are tied, interesting.
MN sweeps but the stats are fairly even. Can anyone who had eyes on the games tell us how even the games really were?
UW had tons of troubles the first 4 periods, I did like the 6th period for them, they had plenty of chances to score and could have stole a W, but it was not to be.

Upcoming>>>>>>
MN & Tommies vs Hawvawd & Cornell.....50% interesting.
Gate at Dawgs.....Very Interesting
Bob Morris & BU vs Kato.....kinda interesting
St. Lawrence at Tosu.....somewatts interesting

Tryptophanian Turkeys vs BSU, UW, & St. Cloud all at one.....snoozefest

The Gophers looked good, with both Gopher goalies making a lot of great saves, and each letting in one that would normally be stopped. Gopher defense looked very good fighting off penalties, even two men short, and also got two shorthanded goals. Maybe teams will decline the penalty in the future?! Murphy is showing why she is an international player, fast, relentless after the puck, and willing to be an enforcer. She is taking a beating, as other commentators have pointed out.
Non-conference weekend for them and the Tommies in DC. Let's see if St. Thomas can find their mojo against the eastern teams.

St.Lawrence comes to Columbus this weekend. They're 12-3 and moved up to #6 in the poll. If Ohio State plays against them like they did against Wisconsin we should sweep. These days it's a monumental task for an opponent to earn a win in our barn.

It really sucked that Harvey was out. I'm rather confident that you'd be speaking a different tune if she was playing.

WCHA recruiting update...

As mentioned in the sinners thread, evidently the sinners get a 2-pack of Gorbatenkos committing for 2025...Rachel (D) and Nicole (F).

Also, the lumberjills get a commitment from Minnetonka HS forward Senja Leeper for 2025. Decent pickup for them...

Life's full of what ifs, like what would have been the outcome of the last National Champy game if the Edwards girls got called for just half of the penalties they committed?

We were without Emma Peschel, so it was even. You were without a National Team Defender / WCHA Defender of the Week award winner, and we were as well.

How did she take three shots based on the scorecard on Friday if she was out? That's some remarkable outness to take shots without playing. And I can't find when she made an appearance with the senior team, can you point me towards it?

Why are we calling out the Edwards girls? I'd figure you'd be pointing out Compher or Curl who were far more physical and playing on the edge. Weird.

Even!?!?! Hahahahaha. I laugh in your general direction. Peschel is not on the same planet as KK.

I've watched that game 55 times and I really don't think there was a lot of stuff that was missed. I don't call any bemoaning at the time the game ended lol.

Your glasses must need some cleaning if you can't see clearly the crosschecking queens apply their trade, especially around the crease! (Wink)

What's with the slOwSU posters?...I know, in watching, that Emma Peschel played Friday. It's true , she was out Saturday but slOwSU was not as shorthanded as the sinners were. Peschel is a good player but not as good as Caroline Harvey. Please... Calling out the Edward's sisters? Again...Please, you might as well call out pretty much every other player that plays in the WCHA as they will, at some point, commit a penalty. Badger Pete mentions Curl and yuse yuckeye posters saw it live and in living color Friday.

She actually did play one period before getting hurt, then was out the rest of the way.

She suited up for Team USA vs Canada in the collegiate selects series. She won silver with U18 in 2022.
