WCHA 2023-2024 Calamity Or Calmness?

Two things. First, I have a missing word. I should have written "...they don't look likely to repeat." Secondly, I'm speaking to the general case of what national poll voters tend to do, not just this season and tOSU.

In horse racing, there are often races where you can bet on a favorite or two, etc, or you can bet "the field"; that is, all of the rest of the horses. That is 'everyone but the favorite'.

Is any team ever "likely to repeat", ever the "odds-on favorite to repeat"?

If I'm betting on who ends up winning the championship, even money bet, Wisconsin vs "everyone else" or Ohio State vs "everyone else", my money is going to be on "everyone else" every time. Winning championships is hard.

Oh ye of little faith. (Big Grin)

It is giving me calendar vertigo that there are games this weekend that could have significant implications for the end of February.

I'm not offering an opinion on who is going to win the WCHA, but that's how the majority of the league's coaches see it.

Some of those coaches wouldn't be the first humans to give in to jealousy.
But to be more serious now, the Muzzinator only had to rebuild her first couple of seasons, she no longer rebuilds only reloads and keeps the pedal to the metal. That's why I believe it will come down to OSU & Wisconsin again.

My greatest wish is to play the Badgers for the Natty again and for Wheeler to score the winning goal and Webster on the assist! :p

Not sure what you mean by that statement. 5 coaches voted for Wisconsin, 2 for OSU and 1 for Minnesota.

Wisconsin has the most talent returning this year. Coaches are very well aware of this. And fans of WCHA hockey, regardless of their bias, should be able to see this as well.

We're back to tossing players out of the faceoff circle?
Greg Shepperd covered this early during the WCHA media conference to start the season, which is available here:

From memory, the center gets tossed unless the faceoff results from a no-change situation like icing or shooting the puck over the high glass in the D zone. For the no-change situations, a warning is issued and a penalty is assessed if there is a second faceoff infraction on that team.
