WCHA 2023-2024 Calamity Or Calmness?

There was a poster here (or on the Wisconsin thread?) who was saying that somebody at Shattuck was 'bad mouthing' OSU or Muzzeral or some such, and it was going to affect recruiting. I should look it up to be more accurate, but...

I think that was BadgerDad2022 if I'm remembering it correctly. Don't have that type of "inside" information so that just seems like heresay to me.

With Hartmetz's older sister being at OSUcks for 3 years and she being a quick offensive minded defenseman, it just seemed like this would be the type of recruit the muzzinator would want...But like TimothyA said, she just wasn't muzzinator material.

Addition to the recruiting update from above...

The tunnelers also receive a commitment from in state. Katya Sanders who plays defense for Holy Family High School has verbally committed for 2026

Interesting...

Ohio State ranked #1 in the first USCHO poll, with Wisconsin #2.

But Wisconsin is ranked #1 in the WCHA coaches' poll, with Ohio State #2.

I think TimothyA has this already in the sinner thread but...

WCHA recruiting update.

The sinners receive a commitment for 2026 from Emma Cerrutti who plays defense for Shattuck. Another very nice pickup for the sinners but was only available to the sinners because she likely wasn't muzzinator material. Word from those in the know on the tunneler side of things is they were interested in her as well.

Lol. Know any eyes who have seen Maddie Kimbrel from Orono play? She also had been allowed sign with UW by the grace of the Muz.

Dunne making first team preseason all league ahead of O'Brien is a complete joke. 100 %. O-B had 73 pts last year. Dunne had 42. 5th yr vs So. My mind is blown.

Given the coaching situation at Shattuck I would think Wisconsin might have a slight advantage for future recruits.

I have not seen her as much as some others. Frankly, with her size (she does have decent quickness but not what I would call "ridicules speed") I would think the adjustment to WCHA play would keep her playing time to a minimum as a freshman. Just my opinion and I could be off on it.

Thanks.

My pal enjoys his adjectives so you can grain of salt that as well, but on the playtime point I think the roster still with Enright, Hall, Los Gorbatenkos, Vasseur, Scannell, Halverson, McCarthy, Sapovalivova, Pieckenhagen and being in the same class as Lopusanova will have more of an effect on her freshman playing time than her size.

The national polls are weekly, so voters tend to give a nod to the defending champ out of respect, even in years where they don't look to repeat. Once that team loses, then the voters quickly put them where they believe that the defending champ really belongs. Meanwhile, the coaches vote for the team they expect to finish on top of the league at year's end.

No question that will be a factor as well.

WCHA recruiting update...

Saw this is also listed on the sinner thread as well, but will list it here too. The sinners receive a commitment from Haley Box, a forward from Shattuck for 2026. She is one of the top forward recruits in the country. The sinners are killing it on the recruiting front for 2026.

Who says we don't look to repeat? That's news to me.
Two things. First, I have a missing word. I should have written "...they don't look likely to repeat." Secondly, I'm speaking to the general case of what national poll voters tend to do, not just this season and tOSU.
