WCHA 2023-2024 Calamity Or Calmness?

I don't understand what "set a new record there too" is in reference to. What "new record"?

From what the announcers said about the Ohio State - Minnesota game it was the largest margin of loss in the Minnesota program history. The previous record was an 8-2 loss at Wisconsin in 2016. I didn't fact check it but too what they said as fact.

3 more goals in the third and the Buckeyes will have set back to back scoring records against the Gophers.
Can they do it?

Didn't set any records today, but I will take the sweep by combined scores of 13-1. Gonna be an interesting and fun second half of the season.

Not so fast Mr. WCHA Elitist......UMD got tied by Q with Q getting 2 in the 3rd period and shots were 31/27 UMD. UM handled UCONN ok, but the expectation was higher than 3-1 35-24 SOG. UW had the same score, but played a way better game. Shots were like 16-0 late in the 1st period until UW took a dumb penalty, then Merrimack settled down a bit. MSU squeaked by the Woodsters 4-3 after a 6-1 game 21 romp.

Coming up:

Tommies at Badgers. Game 1 could be ugly rust vs no rust game. Badgers won't be bad - sweep. Shocking Packer playoff (PLAYOFFS?!?!?!) game on Sunday @ 3:30 may hurt attendance.
Tosu at the Tunnellers. Will the tosu rust give the rodents a game 1 advantage? Split. No worry about any Viqueen playoff game time conflict. LOL and HAHA.
Beavers at B-Dawgs. B-Dawgs enjoy some protein - sweep.
Mavericks at H-Dawgs. H-Dawgs also chow on protein - sweep.

WI sweeps. WI attendance was hammered by a large snowstorm Saturday, the Packer game and a high of below 0 Sunday. Thank goodness the games were on BTN+.
Tosu HAMMERS the rodents, including outshooting them 25-3 in the 5 period. Holy tunnel calamity Batman!
B-Dawgs sweep, but game 1 was tight.
Mavs and H-Dawgs split! Mavs outshoot them in both games. Hmmm...

Coming up:
Tommies - H-Dawgs home n home. 2 wins for the H-Ds
What's left of the rodents vs Beavs. Is any pride on ice left?
UW at Kato - no bloodbaths here, but red prevails.
B-Dawgs at Tosu. Feasting on maroooon and gold continues.

Does anyone know if 13 goals against Minnesota in a weekend series is indeed a record? I have a feeling it may well be.

Looks like the best UW ever did was 11 in 6-3 and 5-0 wins in Madison in 20-21. WI scored 7 in one game in rodentapolis in 22-23 and had 8 in one game in 16-17.

Of course one year UW scored 15 against the team from Ohio......

There was a play in the Wisconsin-Mankato games where the puck bounced off the Mankato goalie's shoulder, up, over and behind her, and she reached back and swiped it away off her back. It looked like she was pretty much on the goal line, such that her back was over the goal line, putting the puck over the line in the air.

The replay/review lasted roughly 6 minutes and 15 seconds before they decided 'no goal'. That's a long review.

I did see that play and the long review. I can see where it looks like the goaltender's momentum takes the puck in the net but the camera angle they were showing was not providing clear evidence of that (at least to me).

The USCHO podcast was late this week and I got to listen to it the other day. They did a pretty decent evaluation of the Minnesota-Ohio State series and they also commented on the Buckeye's one loss at home but didn't mention what I felt was the major factor for it - the Muzzinator wasn't there.

Jeepers, the Tommy's crush the Huskies, The rodents and tosu have narrow wins, Wisconsin takes care of business like they mean it.

I thought the tunnelers were embarrassing with how they played (which they were) but getting throttled by the Tommy Bahamas? Crap the bed bad...

OSU seemed a bit off today, especially in our shot placement, I don't think we challenged the goalie as we should. I'll give Duluth credit they came to play today and their coach made good adjustments to interfere with our style of play and they were exceptionally good at denying us shooting lanes. Our single goal came on a PP and the Duluth girl couldn't help committing the hook or we could have scored on a breakaway. I commend the good number of Duluth family & friends who made the trip here at this time of year!
