Re: WCHA 2015-16: So here's what we think that we know...

I was so resigned to having no Chargers listed that I didn't even think about that.

Well, ok, then. NO GOSSELIN?! GRRRRRRR!

:D

Can't remember the last time there was a UAA freshman on that list. Way to go Ege!

Re: WCHA 2015-16: So here's what we think that we know...

Seems to me, and correct me if I'm wrong you Alaska types, but until the state gets it's finances straight and has income equal outgo, we are in for continual issues in the Hockey and sports world. The fact is the oil revenue can't support the state any longer. Sure the price is going to rebound some, but overall the state needs to find other sources to operate on. Even if oil comes back it's feast or famine.
I know they hate income taxes and anything else that costs money, but it has to come from somewhere and the gravy train has come to a stop. I think they have to get with it, institute some tax reform that makes the revenue stream more predictable and get on with life.

I can confirm that I heard the same report JJM did above, Mel Pearson confirmed MTU vs FSU at 7:30pm Friday.

Actually I got my info from the league office. It was embargoed, but since Mel spilled the beans I didn't see any point in waiting.

Apparently in the NCHC, the #1 seed gets its choice of early or late game. Good idea or bad?

Most of us, at least I hope, accept that fact but there's a vocal minority that don't want anything. Plus a Republican run legislature that seeks to avoid taxes at all costs is bad news.

For those of you who don't have tickets yet for the Final Five
Groupon has a deal right now:
https://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-wcha-final-five-tournament

The Groupon description seems to think that NMU made the Final Five.

"On March 18 and 19, Van Andel Arena better turn up the A/C just to keep the ice from melting under the heat of competition. Throughout the weekend, WCHA’s finest square off for the Broadmoor Trophy and an automatic berth to the NCAA hockey tournament. All eyes are on the Michigan Tech Huskies and the Minnesota State Mavericks, the division’s current co-champions and top-seeded teams, but the rest of the field may be playing with fire in their eyes. Having reached the Final Five for the first time since 2010, the NMU Wildcats are yowling for payback after the Huskies knocked them down to fifth in the standings on March 4, and Ferris State has a vendetta of its own after suffering two losses to Bowling Green in February."

Re: WCHA 2015-16: So here's what we think that we know...

Sorry that the WCHA will only be sending one team onward this season.
Next year, the league and BGSU shall do better.

But still...well done, Ferris, well done.
What we've all known for years--never underestimate a Bob Daniels team.
