Ok, I have been skeptical most of the season as the Cats found ways to give up some games that they had control of early on - gift wrapped split to Notre Dame and should have stepped on PC throat that first Friday night. But, they have only had one mediocre to poor game that I have seen and that was the 2nd PC game. I just kept expecting to revert to what we have been subjected to the last four years (with last year being a significant improvement but still a long way from FUN to watch).
However, they are learning how to win and I'm really starting to like this team. Still too narrow on scoring finish, as evidenced by being shut out twice now, but they have really good forward depth and I don't recall seeing such good tape to tape passing with good foot in a long time. And the PK is just massively improved.
Obviously McCarthy has taken his game to the next level, he is simply confident and is becoming dominant. Fallon also looking good, we will be a monster next year like McCarthy is this year. The D look pretty good also, save a few bad turnovers from 4 and 5 who try to do too much sometimes, but they are also the most offensive D we have and are fun to watch.
Should be a fun game on Tuesday. NU is obviously very improved also, kind of on the same trajectory
Cats are #11 right now in RPI on the strength of schedule to it's starting to appear that even the NC games are critical - that is a nice change!
