I will agree that the defense has been a bit weak, but the goaltending has been worse. We have seen all four goalies play, and they all seem to fight the puck and let in a lot of soft goals, and now we are down to three goalies.
(Jim patterson has left the team), and in my opinion, I thought he was the better of the four. Ouch!! Could be a longer second half of the season!

From the couple of games I've seen them play this year (at Point), there just seems to be a general lack of consistency. They can play like gangbusters one period and then lay an egg the next. That there seems to be a sense of uneasiness and unsureness at times that they should/could make a play. They seem to be able to be shaken if something goes wrong in the game and have a hard time to overcome it with grit and determination.

I see some decent talent on the team and at times, they can be dominate. Perhaps we are making too much of this year, esp. since the goalie situation is not set-that no matter who they put in the net, they will be new to college hockey.

word on the street is that braden desmet has left the yellowjackets. for a time the guy could sure light the lamp, then his ego got in the way.... apparently he didn't like the way coach stauber dealt with his newfound fame.

I might be wrong but doesn't it seem like guys are always leaving Superior? Why does this happen?

Is Desmet transferring anywhere?

yeah well, thats because they do. if i had a dollar for every player who came to superior as a freshman unsure of his abilities, then as a senior thought he could score when, where and how he wanted and thought he could dictate where and how he played, i'd be rich.

You might be rich according to Ranger standards, but I would like to know your list of players that thought they were bigger than the program.

no need to name names, but for instance when a past player comes back and goes into the opposing locker room to fire up the opposing team, that's bush. those in the know know what i'm talking about. obviously when a coaching staff brings a guy in, they're always taking a chance on the player, then they do a top flight job of bringing the player along, player gets a big head, and that's it, they think their big stuff then.

BTW....Desmet is still with the Jackets.

:confused: :confused: Do you just make this stuff up? Word on the street in Hibbing is quite different than word on the street in Superior!

Well we fell back to page two. Time to wonder why things are not going well in the second half of the season so far. 1 win 1 loss 1 tie. Maybe George Thourgood could cover that tune,but I digress back to the point. Players to big for the program??? Who brought the players in or are not in tune with these "egos" ? Why is there a goalie go round with no end in sight? Inconsistent play from shift to shift period to period. To young? What excuse is there for this situation? Whatever we come up with that is all it is, just an excuse. A rebirth of Jacket Pride is in order.

Rebuild? Good question. In the 90's 9 final fours in ten years. Yellowjackets used to reload. Now I guess we rebuild. There seems to be a sense of complacency surrounding the program. Not just at Wessman but also on this board. Where is the passion?

It's been building up for years, this is the outcome. I honestly thought we would see the bottom around 2006, but I guess its coming out now. BTW, 2006 was the last time UWS saw 10 losses in a season. We are only 3 losses away from that this year. This may very well be the worst season at UWS in 17 years.

the players are all out of synch on the ice. they'll turn it around and they'll be fine.

i am somewhat surprised that derek stauber is getting so much ice time, he's a liability with the puck and is not that good defensively. the only thing he seems good at is bombing shots from the point.

logan isley is really having an off year as well, if he could pick up his game it would greatly help the team.

stauber is a good coach, he'll get it turned in the right direction, not worried.

It keeps getting better and better out of you. Why do you think Stauber is a good coach and he will "turn it around"? I really want to hear your reasonings, besides he is coaching a bunch of pre-madonnas!

I am actually impressed with Derek and what he has done this year being a true freshman.

Lets be honest, one of, if not the biggest problems for this team is their goaltending. After being spoiled with having Chad the past 3 years, the group Staubs keeps throwing out there this season is a joke and a half. Patterson was the best one they had, but is off the team for whatever reason. Tinkham was serviceable, but not a good number one, and is now also gone. So we are left with seive 1 and seive 2 out there now. Dahlseive and Roseiveare about the worst excuse for goaltenders that ANY team could throw out there. How did these two even make the team? Unless Staubs can have the hand of God touch one of these two, I seriously doubt the Jackets will win another game all season. This weekend against Norberts is going to be ugly with these guys defending the Jacket's goal.
