UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

Re: UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

i think who ever has to to play VT has hands full , with that said , to sweep in someone elce's building is very difficult especialy with so much at stake. I would look for a split at worst, vermont should have swept unh , they came away with only 1 point but clearly out played them . Bu always gets better around beanpot time and to sweep them is most impresive. VT is clearly peaking at the appropriate time .

Totally agree about UVM. I had been down on them pretty much all season, but I was very impressed with them in both games this past weekend.

Seems like they've been playing with a greater sense of urgency since Sneddon threw Milo under the bus. If the coach is willing to throw out a player who put his baseball plans on hold for the sake of hockey and his teammates, why should any of the Catamounts feel safe? Fear is one hell of a motivator..

Re: UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

Sneddon did not throw milo under the bus. He eliminated a mistake and cleaned up a situation. People who run or manage teams of humans make mistakes such as hiring or recruiting bad apples that ruin the chemistrym. Often times when you eliminate the problem the sum of the parts does become greater and I think this is the case here.

Uvm has far underperformed this year. No doubt about it. But at times they have shown impressive ability to shut down good teams and take it to them. Examples are denver, UMD, yale, bc twice.

However they have also sucked at other times. If the good effort shows up they can beat anyone in the country
Even without milo and stacey. I think their best hockey is still ahead of them but the goaltending has to be there. Foster saved unh three points by outplaying madore both nights two weekends ago. Swap goaltenders and uvm would have swept unh....

Should be a very interesting weekend of hockey

I disagree as I was there and with the exception of the 3rd period of the Saturday game Foster looked terrible all weekend. He was off balance on shots and gave up juicy rebounds over and over. While madore kept them in Saturdays game single handedly with 20 saves in that ugly first with at least 5-10 in close saves and several were stone jobs.

One bad apple causes the whole bushel to rot. Sneddon just got rid of it before that happened. Team moral is back up and UVM has played well since. As noted they are coming off good series against both UNH and BU. If they continue that level of play UML will have their hands full.

And snwbrdr, I disagree the 4-0-0 record does mean something. It doesn't mean the wins are automatic, but mentally the Cats know they can play and win on the road against UML. That's a confidence booster and a moral booster that may play only a small role in their play but a role nonetheless.

Re: UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

This is what college hockey is all about. Two teams that should have everything to play for, deciding it out on the ice. Wish I was going to be in Lowell for both nights, but will only be there Saturday evening.

At the end of the weekend, the landscape will be clear and all the mud slinging and bravado will be replaced with what if's and should have.

As a Vermont fan, my hope is that the what if's and should have are being said by our UML friends.

Re: UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

Question for the Vermont fans: Will you be taking your fine weed with you to the games or are you going to be adventurous and try the outstanding Lowell crack?

Re: UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

Hey! You can VT and ULowell fans alike can watch this game on B2 networks which has actually updated in the last few months. It is no longer just one up top video game camera angle and actually has its own scoreboard and time. Have any of you ULowell caught any of the Super 8 Hockey tournament at the Tsongas? GO AP!

Re: UVM at Lowell 3/5 & 3/6

He had to put down his doobie and get off the teeter-totter to come up with that one.

I would rather be putting down a doobie and getting off the teeter totter then putting down the viagra and getting out of a wheelchair.

I have a serious question for you oldmanriver? Why is a person of...err....advanced age spending so much time making wise cracks to people a third to half their age?? I mean I would think you would have to be some kind of really big loser to be an elderly person and get your kicks by make wise cracks at the all the young whippersnappers?

Based on how the players have responded, I think Sneddon did EXACTLY what needed to be done.
If the players ( ie Milo's friends) thought he was getting screwed, they would have probably packed it in. The effort on the ice indicates to me that he was nothing more than a distraction. I wish him well in his baseball career.
