UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

As an FYI, there will be a "pickup" game on Aug 6th featuring the 96-97 Catamounts v. other alumni. Includes St. Louis and Perrin in a Catamount jersey again along with Chris McCarthy, Peter Lenes, Mike Paliotta, and a bunch of others. Surprisingly tickets are only $5. I'm guessing it sells out relatively quickly.

Also schedule is out. Games against Union, UNO, Michingan, and a few others should make for a decent OOC schedule. Catamount Cup is gone, instead we play Bentley???

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Hey guys, I'm excited the schedule has been released. Looks like a fun season. Unfortunately, I had to sell my season tickets this year. I know that several teams stream their games on the Pack Network. I went to their website and saw UVM's logo there as a partner. Does anyone know anything about UVM switching from free streaming to the Pack Network? And has anyone used the Pack Network and had any opinion on it? I feel like more and more teams are streaming and now starting to charge for it. As much as I love watching games at The Gut, sitting in my recliner with a beer is pretty nice too.

Well, a while back Catmandoo indicated that there will be some deletions made by the team. Having 11 defensemen is just unworkable. 5 sitting each game just won't work. There will be 5 forwards sitting as well, and that too is tough.
So, who is being deleted, if any?
Based on who is being deleted, what do you see as the opening night lineup?

I'm not sure we are going to see any deletions...

That said here's my guess at the unpredictable...

Colton - J. Priv - Mario
Bradley - Lodermier - Shaw
Coughlin - Puffer - Petruzelli
Irwin - Bowen - O'neil / Alvero

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Seems like they would have a guy with an "A" in the stands in that lineup, but it seems legit otherwise.

I am clueless, but I'll try....

Bradley-Priv-Mario
Colton-Puffer-Coughlin
Petro-Blanleil-Irwin
O'Neil-Darrar-Shaw

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Don't underestimate Alvero as he was named the "Top Forward" in last weekends Senior Chowder Cup in Foxboro. Also incoming goalie Stefanos Lekkas was named the Top Goalie.

No deletions?
11 D?
Who are the starting 6?

They may be "Cleaning House" this year. Sitting the vets who haven't/can't produce anymore and going with the young guns.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

So can someone tell me when UVM started adding fees on to on-line tickets? I just bought two $5 tickets for the pick-up game on 8/6 and it cost me $17. Each ticket had a "convenience" fee of $3 and a handling cost of $4 for the two. Whose convenience? They didn't have to do anything, no human interaction, no ticket printing (I printed on my printer). Seems like they should pay be for saving them time and money.
They are getting like the airlines, adding little charges everywhere. This is VT, we do things differently here. I assume this was the old AD's doing. I hope Jeff takes a look at some of these anti-customer practices and reverses some of them. I think the lower attendance at games is not all tied to team performance but how the prices rise and how fans are treated. I have built my career on superior customer service. You get more in the long run if you treat people right - loyalty pays dividends. I'm optimistic for some positive changes.

They have been doing that for a while. You can call the ticket office and there is a phone convenience fee but I believe it's one per order. The website is a def fail. The only reason I would use it would be the day tickets go on sale, the line to the ticket office is busy, you want to have certainty on tickets.

That happens every year with Sneddon...where have you been? How about coaching kids to get better and letting them play to thier strengths that you saw when you recruited them....

So, other then Munson, no players have indicated that they have been cut or are otherwise leaving for greener pastures.
11 Defense is unworkable so perhaps as you predicted, there will be a couple of players asked to leave. Forwards are also pretty numerous and maybe that will happen as well but at least there are 12 spots a game to fit guys in.
Have you heard anything more?

I am guessing the kids that were told they wouldnt play finally said FU to Wallack and Sneddon and stayed and now the situation is is a bomb shell. How long until the locker room is a disaster with this many players to deal with? What a joke. This is really going to start to affect our recruiting..

I agree with you. Obviously the numbers are unworkable, especially on D. They can't practice with 11 D and will have to tell at least 1 if not 2 to not bother showing up anymore. This will have an adverse effect on the remaining players. One thing to have the starters pushed to perform by the scratches but if they continue to play Lee, good or bad as he may be, and play Massie because they probably promised him that he would play every game, that leaves a whole lot of upset players. Add in Muscoby, who got a letter this year and didn't even play the entire first half of last season because he couldn't crack the lineup and those are half the D spots right there. I think they will play Abramson every game and hopefully give Hamilton a chance to get back in the good books. What ice time for Ferguson and Phillips, and the other two freshmen D. And Kearley, who just looked out of place last year but who knws this year. What good player would want to come here if players are warehoused like that. If it ws a meritocracy, the numbers suck but a good player will play. If they stick with Lee, Massie and Muscoby through thick or thin, they could be dressing players who rank in the bottom half of the 11 from time to time. Not good.
The forwards have similar issues but at least they have more spots to be filled. Giiving a letter to spare parts like Blanleil and Petruzelli did not help.
