Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread
How do they divi up the scholarship money? Way too many players.

Classic junior hockey model. No wonder UVM is average year in and year out. What does BC have, maybe 21 players .
how would you feel as a player who was recruited to come to school, enrolled are in classes right now perhaps even given some scholarship moneys then told sorry you didnt make it because we intentionally overloaded roster and now we want to trim it how would you feel as a parent this happen to your players? a prep or junior coach if this happen to one of your players?
It reek of poor planning and honestly poor taste from Sneddon and company because they cannot manage their own roster or even develop kids or even be realistic to some and tell others to leave which i dont agree with but they could have done this in april for returning players and for incoming players defer a year
You can keep defending it all you want but if this stuff of cutting guys who you've annouced as recruits and said "thank you to these coaches who develop them" - trying to play their junior coaches then you go ahead and cut a few...well guess what you probably cannot go back to that well and it seem to mee that Sneddon and Wallyworlds wells have been dried by promising the world to marginal players then recruiting right over them because they didnt win and at no point seems to be a reflection on the coaching and development and talent management being the problem.
I know I don't like it when they sign a letter of intent to come and then don't. So the door swings both ways I quess.
Well without identifying who I am, You are a huge fan of mine!!
I'm am hoping many freshmen are more skilled than last years squad.
This is one nasty rumor. Must have been started by someone who really hates the coach! My question is, which of the freshmen are on scholarship?
You don't sit in a player's kitchen table, entice the player and his parents to come play at UVM with a scholarship, then cut him before he plays his first game.
So I would think they would be given every opportunity to perform. If they don't, then they sit in the stands.
You would think the staff knows pretty well where the returning talent is, if they recruited half way decently, they filled the holes.
Agree this is a large assumption, but I just don't get why a recruit would be cut before his first game. This is not BC.
So I think any cuts would come from the returning players.

The notion of cutting a scholarship player before practice has gotten underway is ridiculous - especially if a player has registered for classes. Most scholarship players don't have full rides. Many have 4 for 3 deals whereby they pay for the first year and the scholarship kicks in for the next three years - unless the player leaves for the pros or is told that he won't see the ice except for practice. If my son was on that kind of ride and he was cut before he ever had a chance to show what he could do, I would sue the school, the coach and anyone else involved for at least the value of his scholarship
The whole idea is absurd. Word would get around. It would absolutely destroy the team's chance of recruiting anyone with other options.

Only 1 or 2 of those d-men will crack the top 6.
O'Neill Privittera Colton
Coughlin Puffer Puskarich
Irwin Bradley Shaw
Blanleil Petruzelli Bowen
Hamilton Abramson
Phillips Daigle
Ferguson Massie
Question for the Vermont fans:
How difficult is it to get tickets? My friends and I are trying to plan a trip for the Michigan game at the end of October. We'd like to book our flights now, but I don't want to find I'm unable to get tickets to the game (which is our reason for the trip).
Looks like individual game tickets aren't on sale yet. A few years ago Michigan stopped selling away game hockey tickets, so that option isn't available to me.
Thanks for any help/insight. Also, any recommendations of things to do/places to eat while we are in Burlington are appreciated.
I notice you prefer the 'vets' over any freshmen (except Colton) for the forwards.
Although, I agree with you that those guys 'SHOULD' play, it seems that wont be likely with the recent penchant for playing a lot of new faces.
I think he should let a few of the upperclass lines 'gel' if possible to generate some scoring.... (but you know what my opinion is worth.....)
Also I think that Bradley and JPriv are NOT good on draws and 'maybe' someone else will move into the middle.
