UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

I hope we can agree on a better thread name for the new season than last year.....

I'll throw a couple out there:

UVM-"It's not the SIZE of the roster, it's how you use it......!"

UVM-"Still celebrating since 1996.......!"

UVM-"Santa and lots of little elves"

I know, they're bad......but not as lame as "UVM 2016 season"

This would be my vote:

"UVM Hockey 2016-17: Dominant? No. Good? No. Fair to Middling? Probably Not."

LOL, love your third one! And so true!!! Not sure how many people would get it though.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

not gonna air it out on here but just wanted to get peoples thoughts on what the consequences should be.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

How can a person plagiarize another's bio? Unless it is in plagiarizing vague phrases like "developing young men to be the best they can be on and off the ice blah blah...." Other than that, you cant really plagiarize another coach's life specific experience unless you happen coincidentally to have taken the same life steps can you? Unless you are saying the bio is simply inaccurate.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

If the person is putting wrong information about their career on it like that guy who was named the coach at Notre Dame football and then got found out and was fired then yes you should be fired
If it is plagirize as in lifting bio of person from another website like a previous school they coached at probably not because my bet is that is common and done by the people who manage the website like Alistair Ingram but of course if those were lies too then yes a firing should take place.
But if someone is just padding their ego by taking credit for team accomplishments as an assistant or something I think that is dumb but not fireable because people do it all time.

I agree with your assessment of which of those actions are serious and which are not, but many of those things like putting wrong information in and taking credit for team accomplishments etc--which I could see happening--isnt plagiarism. Lifting from a previous website is--I hadnt thought of that as an example.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Plagiarizing is unacceptable and certainly should result in a firing as it goes against the ethic policies of the University.

That said, plagiarizing is taking credit for someone else's work that you had no part in. So to use a teams success would be acceptable, because the coach would be part of that team and is perfectly fine. Without the specifics it's really hard to say and Catmandoo seems to be his typically veiled self so who knows.

Is it Hockey Season yet?
