Utica University 2024-25 - Retooled and Reloaded

Because that number accounts for season ticket holders. This is a common practice across all sports at every level.
I can understand that during the regular season when there are corporate season tickets sold, and a lot of no shows. Playoff tickets aren't included.

I hate how they figure attendance figures across all sports. Makes now sense. Should be just fans that show up. I had an Oswego parent tell me last night that he chose Oswego over other schools like Platty, etc. because of the arena and the fans/tradition. The Deb was rocking last night!! What player would not want to be a part of that!!

Utica U. would still be near or at the top of Div. 3 with the actual turnstile count. They actually beat some Div.1 teams in yearly attendance.

One thing I'm tracking today as a thing to watch is UNE has fallen to 8th in the NPI and Hamilton is 9th, with a difference of 0.365

If Hamilton secures their auto-bid, there is a good chance they could flip spots with UNE in the seed list, which could create a potential Utica v. Hamilton quarterfinal matchup

What a way to renew a local rivalry after 11 years that would be

Actually 2600 through the turnstile. Box score had 4169. I don't understand why they always inflate the attendance.

Hmmm...Utica report 4,100 in attendance but actual turnstile data shows 2,600 came into the rink. So......1,500 people were reported as attending the game that were not there.

Gosh, that never happens at Utica..said nobody familiar with D3 hockey in upstate NY.

Anyone calling out the inflated Utica attendance numbers gets handed the same tired, never-ending excuse of "corporate ticket sales" or "season ticket holder" sales. Utica has been over-inflating attendance for 15+ years. This is nothing new.

Funny thing is it isn't really necessary...Utica has awesome fan support. Even if you take away the ridiculous "reported" numbers and stick to turnstile data, I'd guess they are probably top 3 in all of D3 hockey (if not #1). Why they feel the need to exaggerate attendance (over and over again) is beyond me.

Every single team that sells season tickets does the same thing. Oswego, Plattsburgh, you name it. The only time there is 4,000 in the rink is the Teddy Bear Toss and NCAA tournament games.

Talk about insecure...you Utica people take the cake. Do you not have anything else going in your lives?

Utica's website says the Aud seats 3,999. So you're asking us to believe 1,500 people with season tickets, which in a conference tournament typically isn't included in the package unless paid for, didn't show up for the most important game of the year? And that Utica oversold the seating capacity by a couple hundred seats? I call baloney. I realize you can announce whatever number you want but overshooting the actual attendance by 35 percent is a bit much.

I'm surprised you don't hang a banner in the Aud for being the national D3 attendance champions, since that is as close to a national title as you're ever going to get.

What about my comment is insecure? I couldn’t care less. And yes, most of those season tickets are corporate sponsors that don’t show. The only time everyone shows up is for the Teddy Bear Toss. It has been that way for years.

Hamilton’s win didn’t do much for them NPI-wise. It barely moved them.

Easily more verifiable asses in the seats than very many D-1 programs, and waaaay more that the vast bulk of D-3...Not that it matters much, but that's a fact.

Attendance-envy is a stupid point to attempt to make in light of the numbers, ain't it?

The Cooler is the worst hockey venue I've ever been to- outside (possibly) of a couple of HS rinks- and many would agree. It's a complete dump, and has been for 20+ years.

Having stated the obvious, HC rolls on. I still don't grasp how they recruit there, but they do.

Possible Utica vs St Norberts if both teams win first round games. Looks like it would be in Utica ! Got to beat Fitchburg St first and St Norbert has to beat Gustavus .

I can only speak for what I saw Sat. night at the Campus Center THE PLACE WAS JAMMED...any empty seats meant that the people where out getting food, which took forever if ya did try and get it....Impressive showing from the students and towns people....and people like me who drove 4 hrs each way, but who's counting...good luck all around..

What I don't get is why did they get rid of that concession table in the other corner a few years ago? They used to serve the lighter, non cooked fare there, but it helped immensely alleviate some of the long lines, especially if you just wanted a cookie, candy, pretzel, or soda.

agree,2 pronged attack on the pretzels....I stopped to say hi but ya must have been online waiting for a pretzel

Actually, a cookie. The Oswego chocolate chunk cookies are just about the only thing that can keep me from a good pretzel.

I also went by your section, but you were probably in the alumni reception room.
