Utica College Pioneers '13-'14 = Lewiston or Bust

Re: Utica College Pioneers '13-'14 = Lewiston or Bust

The NCAA needs to adjust its selection process and the proof is in the pudding, in terms of the E/W thing lately.

There were probably 7-8 Western teams that were far better on-paper (per The Krach, yes, which is the only credible metric that exists in D-3) than any Eastern team this past season, yet that region was restricted to no more than four bids, and #1 East Trinity was summarily discarded after one round..?

That's completely illogical, and even worse, unfair. Time to go "national" with the selection process.

Also since you seem to like math....1/3 of the DIII teams are in the west and 2/3 in the east. 4 bids is 36% of the bids....that is already more than a fair representation from the west.

I see you favor quotas over actually having the best teams represented in a tournament which decides a national champion.

Glad you're not in a hiring position for critical skills type careers. ;):D

Going to have to disagree with this line of thinking..

I was just kind of throwing this out there because it seems the NCAA thinks that way!!! Two teams was enough from the SUNYAC even though a better team was left home!!

I don't have any idea as to how the NCAA can attempt to make any sense of the rankings right now... It's clearly been men vs. boys in terms of West vs. East lately, and even poor, demented Chumps and her friends should be able to grasp the fact that "quotas" are not the solution.

Scant comparative data notwithstanding, D-3 ought to adopt a national metric of some sort, and this year's tournament was another recent example of that.

Perhaps it's not the "west" that is so much better than the "east". Perhaps it's St. Norbert that is better than any team in the east. Anyone who watched Oswego vs. Stevens Point would have a hard time saying Stevens point was a superior team. They weren't of course, but did manage to win the game despite being clearly outplayed for long stretches.

It took I don't know how many years for a "west" team to win a game in the Primelink and no one was saying how superior the "east" was. If you chuck out SNC, it's pretty even IMO.

Tough to quantify, the west doesn't get to send 6 + teams every year to the NC$$'s to find out. Most years the West's top two teams have to play each other in the quarter finals to even have a chance to advance to the final four. So when it's 3 east vs the 1 west every year and the 1 western team keeps winning it, well...

If getting forced to the wall and firing 35 harmless shots from deep in the corner means you are outplaying someone, by all means keep doing it. You'll be right back here next year crying about how the "better" team lost. Again.

Re: Utica College Pioneers '13-'14 = Lewiston or Bust

Since Ed Gosek took over Oswego they are unbeaten in NCAA games against Eastern teams while they have only 2 wins (St. Norbert in 2007 and Adrian in 2013) against Western competition. That to me shows either Oswego has a hard time with the Western style in general or the West has the better teams at the top.

It's pretty hard to state with a straight face that the West got a fair shake in "the process" this year... Both UWEC and UWRF (IIRC) had better resumes than anyone in the East via any logical analysis, and they both stayed home.

(...And for all you John-Birchers: note that this injustice was due to the quota-system that the NCAA employs.)

Based on what? No they didn't. Get a clue

Re: Utica College Pioneers '13-'14 = Lewiston or Bust

Ummm... The KRACH, or any other objective measure that you might care to cite.

Kisses.

Re: Utica College Pioneers '13-'14 = Lewiston or Bust

Yea the NCAA selection crieria....the ones they use...oh wait nevermind you don't understand that either....

Or the DII/DIII KRACH which is the complete KRACH...

The NCAA isn't required to employ any objective measure in the selection-process, sweetie... You can look that up.

(And D-2 is completely irrelevant in college hockey; just so you and Benny know.)

UC and Oswego next season at the Carrier Dome..?

I'll go if it happens, but I have to wonder how that will work out for the fans.

(I suppose it'll beat sitting in pouring rain at Fenway in January, at least.)

My guess is that it would work out well for the Oswego fans.
