Who will play goalie for BC this season? A junior who did not play last year, or a freshman who did not play last year??

Obviously, its a big transition to the college game, but I'm curious if you (or anyone else) has thoughts on what one can expect from incoming freshman goalie Amelia Boughn. How likely is she to take over the starting spot for Cornell? What are her strengths, weaknesses, etc?

Just have the goalie skate out and make Keller that skater. Keller can get back to the net when needed. Yes, she is that good. Or so we have been told...

There is no doubt that Boughn is a very solid goalie, one of the better ones in the PWHL the past couple years and given that PWHL goalies generally do very well in D1, I think this is actually a very good pick-up. Her stats were among the top 5 in the league, and she has good size (5'8"). The only question mark of course is that she played on a top team (Mississauga), which generally inflates a goalie's impact somewhat with puck possession typically in the opponents' end and some top end D in front of her. She was generally seen as being the #2 goalie for Missy behind DaSilva (incoming freshman at Princeton), though their stats and playing time were not too dissimilar. I have seen her make some very impressive saves against top players.

It's tough to compare goalies playing on teams of far different strength (Voorheis played for a middle of the pack team in PWHL)--especially if you don't have the technical background to assess and compare goalies. For example, Boughn's stats last year were superior to Tiley (incoming to Clarkson), the Canada U18 goalie.

However, I would say that most observers would have considered Boughn a better goalie than Voorheis. Voorheis though has the big advantage of D1 experience, and a fair bit of it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if both get significant playing time--especially if one or both falter at times.

Forgive me for being too lazy to look this up but does anyone know when the first non-exhibition game is? I know BC opens on Saturday 10/4

Everyone seems to get a drop on the Ivies, if not the ECAC, for games that count. #1 BC  has almost four weeks on Harvard.

(Anyone returning to Hamden for the Chinese National Team @ Q?)

Self-imposed Ivy League rule governing start date for school's winter team schedules. Puts them at a disadvantage in the early part of the season when they are playing non-conference games against teams that have 5-10 games under their belts. Same problem on men's side......maybe worse....
