USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

4) Minnesota-Duluth -> outplayed Ohio but could not solve Sauve

I would add this to that...

They definitely outplayed OSU (at least in the parts of the two games that I saw).

They may not have been able to "solve" Sauve in the parts that I did not see...don't know, didn't see, can't comment.

But in the parts of the two games that I saw, as talented as Sauve is, what UMD could not solve was themselves.

You first have to be able to create scoring opportunities before you can get to the point of worrying about how to solve the opposition goaltender.

The 'Dogs never got to that point in the action that I witnessed.

For this weeks top ten theme you can use the following to meditate on it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74d3gWJOV-4

1. Wisconsin - De Duobus malis, minus est semper eligendum
2. bc - Credula vitam spes fovet et melius cras fore semper dicit
3. Clarkson - Dum Spiramus tuebimur
4. Colgate - Fama crescit eundo
5. OSU - A posse ad esse
6. St. Lawrence - Fas est et ab hoste doceri
7. Minnesota - Non omnequod nitet aurum est
8. Quinnipiac - Melius est praevenire quam praeveniri
9. UMD - Per angusta in agusta
10. Northestern - Inter spem et metum

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Gophers "solved" (7 goals) her by firing from in close, although they did not solve the rest of the team.
but then I guess that's the usual, the farther away, usually the better the look

Yeah, most of UMD's shots were from distance and pathetically half hearted at that.

The one goal that I did see them score was from in close, as you say, but I wouldn't categorize it as having "solved" Sauve because they looked as surprised, if not more so, than Sauve and everybody else did.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

1. Wisconsin - Ten up...Ten down. Arch rival time.
2. Clarkson - Only blemish is a minor blip on the radar screen.
3. bc - The "power" line duo is putting up output like Carpenter/Scarupa
4. Colgate - Perfect so far but maybe not enough sample size to crack the top three.
5. Ohio State - Surprise team so far this year.
6. Minnesota - Has five wins but that seems a bit fortunate. Precarious position to be the 3rd best WCHA team.
7. Cornell - Haven't played yet so maybe the unknown is better than the known?
8. Northeastern - Bounce back weekend for them.
9. Harvard - Do they have their mojo back? Maybe.
10. UMD - Hard to put a 2-6 team here but it just feels like they should be better.
