Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Given the fact that some of the top 10 (Cornell, Ohio State, SLU, RM) were missing key players due to National team commitments, I am doing no change to my top 10 this week.
Maine is on my radar for future Top 10's.

1 Wisconsin
2 Boston College
3 Colgate
4 Clarkson
5 Minnesota
6 Cornell
7 Ohio State
8 St. Lawrence
9 Robert Morris
10 Providence

This could change following Tuesdays games.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Really such an interesting year where it is hard to gauge how good anybody is. Maybe Wisconsin is that good...But are they really that good or is it just that everyone else has major flaws and their strength is not having any major flaws?

1. Wisconsin - Pretty wide gap between them and the rest at this point.
2. bc - Video game stats on offense allows them to power past most opponents.
3. Colgate - Unlike other ranked teams did not have a hiccup this past weekend
4. Clarkson - Probably the team that "no one wants to play" in the post-season
5. Minnesota - Allowing 4 goals on 8 shots...nuff said.
6. Cornell - Had a bounce back weekend.
7. Ohio State - Big weekend ahead.
8. Maine - It's very likely that this season's squad will set a mark for most wins by the program.
9. Providence - Too bad they didn't have a Saturday/Sunday series with BU.
10. St Lawrence - Meh...They seem like the best of the rest.

9) Providence
10) StL

1 Wisconsin May be the gap is not as wide as we think?
2 Colgate
3 Boston College
4 Clarkson
5 Ohio State
6 Minnesota
7 St. Lawrence
8 Cornell
9 Maine
10 Providence

Despite the record I really think Wisconsin really belongs with the BC/Clarkson/Colgate pack (whatever order you want) -- probably at the front of it, but with the pack nonetheless. The WCHA is really pretty darn mediocre this year.

Fixed your post ;) . The WCHA still has the best OOC win % compared to any of the other conferences.

WCHA - 63.0%
HE ----- 59.3%
ECAC--- 50.5%
CHA---- 31.8%
Indep-- 31.2%

If the todays Pairwise Standings were to be used for the NC$$ Tourney you have

1 Wisconsin
2 Clarkson
3 Colgate
4 Boston College
5 Ohio State
6 Cornell
7 Minnesota
8 CHA Champion

Wisconsin - CHA Champ
Clarkson - Minny
Colgate - Cornell
BC - Ohio State

If I am in the top 4 the one team I don't want to play is Ohio State ;) and it would not surprise me if they sneak into a top 4 by the end of the year.

I don't think UW is light years ahead of Clarkson or Colgate. BC with their video game offense hand on the other hand.

1 UW
2 Clarkson
3 Colgate
4 BC
5 OSU
6 Cornell
7 Minnesota
8 Maine
9 Northeastern
10 BSU

The gap in RPI between the top four and the next three/four/five is pretty wide. I would be VERY surprised to see any of the next group crack the top four. The gap is too wide, and there's just not enough time or games left to play. The top four is the top four. Print the home games tickets.

I agree and have for some time. I'm very surprised that UW has managed to be as good as it is in terms of results. IMO, BC and UW are similar teams in terms of strength, though configured far differently. Both look better than they are because they play in leagues that lack a true No. 2 team. I see both as more vulnerable to an upset come tournament time than they have been in recent years.

Yeah, only having HALF of the Top 6 teams in the country sure is mediocre. And having the #1 team is just weak. :)
