USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

I get it. I always like to rank teams based on how they would do head to head more than overall record. Just have a hard time believing any team (especially RM) below Bemidji at 10 would beat them in a 3 game series. Maybe that's skewed logic, but I am the GopherBadger & what can be more wrong than that! :)

Be honest. After St. Cloud torched Bemidji by 4 goals last week you wanted to prop them up.

I felt the same way about Merrimack's recent 5 goal loss to Providence. So we can use the poll to make both teams feel better.

Bemidji was without 4 of top 9 forwards that game. (exhibition Game - game to replace 1 they lost due to N.Dakota) No excuse, just saying I think it would have been a different outcome if everyone played. Just the week prior it looks like they Swept the series in St. Cloud in the conference games.

True. That sweep helped Bemidji tie New Hampshire for 16th in the Pairwise.

I don't put much stock in that. just looked at both teams schedules, 4/19 games for NH against ranked (top 10) teams vs 10/19 games for Bemidji against ranked (top 10) teams.

1 win in the 10th try gets you ranked? I get it now. Sweet.

I see St. A's has fallen to #2 in the PWR :( behind Wisconsin and ahead of Clarkson.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Poll at the break with projected finish at the end of the season

1. Wisconsin - (1) Should finish as the National Champ but that was also true last year
2. bc - (3) Will make the FF but the energy they expend on offense is greater than the resistance they put up on defense which isn't a recipe for a NC, but...You never know Watts going to happen.
3. Clarkson - (2) Would you bet against the fighting nurses?
4. Colgate - (5) Working their way through the ECAC playoffs could see them as a casualty.
5. Cornell - (7) Still not quite enough data on them yet but they could be the demise of some ECAC team.
6. Minnesota - (4) Certainly diminished from the past few years and can't win much at home but, I believe they can be a formidable opponent for anyone in the tournament.
7. Ohio State - (6) Started very well but showing some cracks and it will likely come down to having to beat Minnesota in the WCHA tournament for a tournament bid.
8. St Lawrence - (9) Just too many other good ECAC teams but they have a chip and a chair.
9. RMU - (8) CHA championship is likely and the autobid that goes with it....But after that all bets are off...
10. Providence - (10) This is a placeholder for Hockey East that could also wind up being Northeastern or Maine.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

1) Wisco ‘nuff said
2) BC could be #3 but it doesn’t really matter, they’ll end up in the same bracket
3) Clarkson could be #2 but it doesn’t really matter, they’ll end up in the same bracket
4) Colgate earlier in the year I thought they were the team that could beat WI, now I’m wondering if they can make it to the ECAC final
5) Cornell could be #4 thru #6 but in the end it won’t matter, they’ll either be #4 or play #4
6) MN a trip to Madison so #5 to #7 doesn’t matter
7) OSU can they hang on to finish #6 or #7?
8) RMU
9) Providence a top ten ranking this year but likely to sit home unless OSU or MN slips
10) StL the #4 ECAC team will sit home unless they can win their tournament

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

1 UW - And MN thinks they're young!
2 Clarkson - Solid
3 BC - Solid
4 Colgate - With that Roster?
5 UM - Wonder if they practiced in Ugly Christmas Sweaters this week? They're having fun though!!!!
6 Cornell - Coached to mix in a few dives
7 OSU - If they could only score
8 Providence - Soft
9 Bemidji - Fear the Cold Beaver
10 St. Lawrence - I have nothing
