The more I listen to and understand jazz and blues the more I am convinced this is the greatest rock and roll song of all time. I don't think you could change one note and do anything but harm the song.

Maybe it's just the perfect 80's rock and roll song (problem: released in 1978).

If it isn't, this is.

A lot of people give me crap about VH but my growing up listening and playing classical and jazz made me love them. Eddie's chords are far more complex than anyone else in the arena rock genre, although Schon gives him a run for his money at times. One of my favorite things about VH is that it can be easily argued that Alex is a better drummer than Eddie is a guitarist. Get Eddie on the keys though, look out.

In the topic of jazz, though, here's another great Beato salute to an absolute monster.

Thank you, this is wonderful.

More NHOP.

Finally got around to something I've been meaning to do for awhile - listen to George Harrison's solo career beyond just "My Sweet Lord".

Honestly, it's great.

TIL I learned the band Europe hates their song “Final Countdown” so much they charge $50k per single use for licensing fees because they don’t want it played.

I'm with them.

They must be incredibly rich because it's been everywhere for 20 years.

Didn’t they star in a commercial where they sing that song just a couple years ago?

I don’t know if it’s every instance but that’s what’s been quoted regarding All Elite Wrestling trying to license the song for Bryan Danielson’s (fka Daniel Bryan) entrance music.

Doing something like this for an arena, then PPV and YouTube, then video games, etc... means the scale of use can go nuts pretty quick. But, this does appear to still be priced high, leading me to believe that they don't really want anyone to license it in the first place.

That’s the point. They hate the song, they don’t want it used, but people want use it so they set a high price.

It’s not like AEW doesn’t want to pay, they’re already licensing plenty of other music.
