Like Miss Thundercat, I wanna go see Alanis Morissette and Garbage this summer at Pine Knob, but I'm not paying $100+ to do it (and that's in the back rows). Sheesh.

I paid $250 to be in the fourth row for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw three years ago.

The only way I could come is if someone lets me stay at their place and let me help prepare their food. While I know a couple from Free Mom Hugs who would let me stay with them, as well as an old friend from NMU, I don't feel like paying for gas.

* This is where I point out the difference between the free market which sets the ticket price and capitalism which is what Morello wants to smash. Under socialism there is still market pricing for most goods, including concert tickets. Owning the means of production does not mean the abolition of prices.

It just means that some dip**** record producer doesn’t own your rights forever because you signed a contract when you were a crappy garage band and needed money and now for ever dollar in record sales you generate, dip**** doesn’t get to keep $0.80 and you end up somewhere around $0.05

Actually, I’m not even sure that’s right.

My understanding is, with today's music model, artists almost give their music away via streaming/etc, and make up for it via concerts/merch, and many are doing VIP packages at concerts (meet the artist, autographed stuff, etc).

I've been appreciating Essential Logic and similar acts on Pandora. They were (are, I guess!) excellent. Another band in the same vein I had not heard of was LiLiPUT (a.k.a. Kleenex), who are not as talented (and lack Lora Logic's intellect) but are also solid. Kleenex contributed Ramona Carter to the Mo-dettes, a post-punk all female super group formed from the remnants of them, the Raincoats, and The Slits. John Peele (PBUH) loved them.

Rough Trade burned bright in those days.
