USCHO Cooks: Are you our Top Chef?

A huge reason for a decrease in my sugar intake is I stopped baking. A lot of my baking creations were based on "what would drunk Amber want," and since Drunk Amber no longer exists, it's hard to create anything.

You had me until that last bit.

what does not drunk Amber like?

Got me thinking.

Everything seasoning. I love the bagels, so wanted to do a muffin.

Pumpkin dark chocolate chip bread/muffins.

Italian seasoning and cheese pizza dough. Followed with Margherita pizza.

Crunchy peanut butter and dark chocolate chip cookies.

And I had a recipe for crunchy peanut butter banana bread with dark chocolate chips. I think it's in this thread somewhere.

Thanksgiving is next month and I don't know what to do.

If I went all out, I am thinking Thanksgiving Leftover Pizza the next day.

Trying something new to me and heading into Chicago today for some authentic Japanese cuisine. Looking forward to the food. Not looking forward to using hashi (chopsticks) though.

The true highlight will be getting the Seymor Skinner "Pathetic" look when I request a fork, lol....

Chopsticks aren't too difficult. Holding them correctly is 2/3 of the battle and usually good enough for sushi. Building up the muscle memory is the other 1/3 needed to pick up small/thin objects, which obviously requires regular use.

Chopsticks are as deprecated technology. It's like using outhouses instead of indoor plumbing to be culturally sensitive. Fuck that.

I don't know if it's the little Angie's tequila talking (probably a hint) but pizza Luce's butternut squash pizza might be one of the best fucking things I've ever eaten. Creamy, sweet, savory, crispy, soft, heavy, light. It's god, but like, food.

Not sure where else to put this

Sounds YUMMY! Now I want some

Ferris Coffee and Nut (yes, actual business) gave me an idea:

Just try dipping various food items in chocolate. Said company has these double dipped chocolate peanuts that are heavenly. And I ate a 2.5 oz container this morning.

So, this is my first time ever hosting a holiday and I've been wanting thanksgiving for a very long time.

decided to do two smaller turkeys. One smoked, one roasted, you know just in case it takes a shit and doesn't turn out in time in the smoker. Anyways, spatchcocked both. I don't know why I had such a hard time this year. Last year it went off without much fighting. Or at least that's how I remember it. I got a few nicks on my finger from the sharp bones. Jeebus.

anyways, super excited.

Smoked and roasted turkeys
Scratch gravy from homemade stock
scratch cornbread sausage stuffing
Homemade cranberry sauce
simple brown and serve buns (wasn't f'ing doing homemade buns again this time)

Brother and his wife are bringing pies.
they're also bringing cheesy (???????) potatoes
Mom is bringing pickles/olives/etc plate
Dad is bringing broccoli salad

Cornbread is done and staling
turkeys are prepped
cranberry sauce is next
got my entire day planned out in 15 min blocks tomorrow following last year's very successful schedule

No grape salad?

I'm working the overnight shift tonight and my roommates don't really celebrate. Plus my roommates and I don't really talk to our families. I might just get a pan of good chicken tenders and fries from Captain Jay's and call it good.

Christmas baking:

Everything muffins
Double chocolate bread/muffins
Molasses spice bread/muffins
Dark chocolate chip and crunchy peanut butter cookies
Double chocolate crunchy peanut butter bread/muffins
Chocolate muffins with espresso chips and cold brew coffee (I swap the milk with 2 cans of cold brew coffee)
Crunchy peanut butter banana bread with dark chocolate chips (or as DX or St. Clown call it, "orgasm bread")

The creativity is coming back.
