Today, I'm going to try making caramels and praline pecans, along with making more batches of peanut brittle and toffee. If time allows, I'm also going to attempt candied bacon, along with making BLTs on cheddar bread from Earthly Kneads.

My pralines turned out fantastic. Didn't have enough maple syrup, so I combined what maple syrup I had with agave nectar with no ill effects. As for the candied bacon, I laid the bacon out on a foil-lined sheet, sprinkled it with brown sugar and cayenne pepper, and baked it at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
Also, I discovered why my fudge didn't set the way I wanted it: I need to let it cool to 110F or below before pouring it into an 8x8.

Made 40 clove chicken tonight. Recipe
I didn't actually disassemble the chicken, just used breast and thigh pieces. Really easy, really good. The hardest part was peeling all the garlic.
Be warned, your house will smell. My girlfriend could smell on the street before she walked in our building's door.

yeah you can swirl, just be careful not to swirl too much or you'll wind up blending the colors instead of swirling.

Thanks! I have a Wilton giant cupcake pan that I want to mold a candy shell in before I make the cake, so I was wondering if I could do a swirl effect for the mold. (It's supposed to look like a cupcake wrapper.)

Peas in some form (puree for a sauce), served as a side. For a starch...I'm not sure.
Edit - Eggs fried in brown butter with a dash of sea salt....heaven.

Lamb's pretty versatile, in my opinion. If you want a starch, you could just do mashed potatoes, or maybe some cous cous. Some eggplant or a ratatouille would be fantastic too.
Now you've got me wanting to cook rack of lamb for Easter...nom.

Asparagus would be a great choice for a spring holiday meal. Rice pilaf is a good starch option for lamb.

Smoked pork chops, with a dijon/maple syrup/bourbon glaze. The proportion was something like 2 TB mustard/1 TB syrup/2 tsp. bourbon.
Throw the chops on the grill, 3-4 mins. first side. Flip and glaze, cook another 3 mins. on the other side, flip and glaze, then finish 1 min. each side. Plate and brush with the remaining glaze.

But for next week, I've got my mind set on braised short ribs in red wine and buttermilk fried chicken with cornbread and green beans (with bacon, of course).
After reading and thinking about it, I'm leaning towards lamb chops with a pea sauce, a root vegetable mashup (potatoes, turnips, and parsnips) and asparagus.

Made Chocolate Chip Cookies and it was delicious even with only 1 cup of chocolate chips. But boy it's really bad for you. 2 cups flour (loaf of bread) + 1 1/2 cup sugar + 1 cup butter + 2 cup chocolate chip. makes 12-16 cookies. Yikes.
Souffle was tasty but wasn't worth it. too much manual work. I need to buy a mixer.
I still need to use up 15pounds of AP flour (from 25pound bag)... so sticking with flour based foods. So pizza, spaghetti, and dim sum is on the list.

Last time I made lamb, I served it with this, but I chopped up a couple stems of asparagus & sauteed them with the mushrooms. Starch & veggies in 1 pan

Because of this thread, I ended up making lamb on Sunday. Saw some gorgeous loin chops at the store on Saturday. Just pan seared them and served them with some basil pesto, and a side of israeli cous cous with roasted veggies mixed in (roasted zucchini, yellow squash, and cherry tomatoes). And plenty of red wine. Delicious.
Last time I made lamb, I served it with this, but I chopped up a couple stems of asparagus & sauteed them with the mushrooms. Starch & veggies in 1 pan

Made whole wheat pizza dough today and is proofing in the fridge as I type this. If I keep this up, I will never have to order out again.
