US Open Tennis

Re: US Open Tennis

Huh. Glad I theoretically got in at +105 for Petrova.

The mythical line I saw last night was Petrova (even). I guess I should have scrounged up some pretend money for that. Petrova is destroying her right now.

Re: US Open Tennis

Oudin is a battler. If she ever wins a major with her Henin like game, that "Come On!" fist pump is going to make her a lot of money.

I did speak too soon for that second set. Petrova looked lost, tired, and totally out of it.

Re: US Open Tennis

Oudin may make the finals.

No American man in the U.S. Open quarters for the first time . . . ever.

Re: US Open Tennis

Clijsters destroyed Na.

She's on to face the winner of the Pennetta/Serena match in the semis.

Cilic, who was two sets down to Jesse Levine in round two, is one game away from a complete demolition of Andy Murray. If he finishes, the Del Potro-Cilic winner would be lined up to play Nadal (assuming he advances) in the semis.

Re: US Open Tennis

I don't enjoy watching Serena play. It's brute strength, not much artistry.

Why use artistry when you are amazing?

Her passing shots are a thing of beauty. She uses angles that you rarely see anyone else use, male or female.

She is a transcendent athlete.

Oh I agree. She's a fantastic tennis player. But when she's on like she is tonight, it's almost boring to watch. She never is out of position, she can pretty much put the ball where she wants to- no drama I guess is the word, instead of no artistry.

The swiss aren't allowed to have personality - they must remain neutral at all times both nationally and personally.

Re: US Open Tennis

It's so awesome to watch Monfils play, it's very exciting. But it's a testament to Nadal to play him even on one leg.
