I expect everyone's following @usahockey on Twitter anyway, but to recap games so far:
Wednesday: Team Blue 2-1 OT, Blue goals from Kessel and Dunne, White goal from Pankowski
Thursday: Team White 4-1, White goals from Knight, Skarupa, Field, and Jocelyne Lamoureux, blue goal from Decker.
So more than half the goals from players who weren't on the team for Worlds.
I expect everyone's following @usahockey on Twitter anyway, but to recap games so far:

Today's game won by Team White in a shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation and no score in ten minutes of 4-on-4 OT. Goals by Amanda Pelkey (Blue), Meghan Duggan (White). I was there and I don't envy the selectors their jobs: few weak links to be seen. Kendall Coyne, Monique Lamoreaux, Amanda Kessel, Erika Lawler particularly strong I thought, Coyne especially towards the end; as a BC fan I would say this, but I thought all the Eagles did well too, Skarupa great at creating opportunities, Field very smart in her positioning, Carpenter with some great defensive moves, and Schaus probably the standout of the four goalies, especially in saving two of three in the shoot-out. Dunne and Pankowski seemed to me to get tired and make more mistakes than the others as the game went on, but again, perhaps I was just seeing what I was looking for.
I'm glad I'm not the one having to make the decision on Sunday night/Monday morning.
Everyone was as classy as you'd expect at the autograph session. My daughter was particularly taken with Hannah Brandt of the players she hadn't met before.

With all due respect to those in charge at this level..."the 40 best players, ..."in, arguably, the world" "??? Huh???..more than a little arrogant don't you think?
Never mind the fact that "the 40 best players in the nation" is often contested by many knowledgeable hockey fans.

It's got to be rough! As with ALL the team sports, selection is so subjective! if you made it this far anyone probably could be switched with little impact with maybe one or two exceptions!

Hmm. Two observations: 1) Wonder if they might be thinking about the future by picking some of the younger/ first time players and 2) Maybe some bias?......
P.S. As a BU fan, really happy to see Coyne and Carpenter will be away for NU and BC

Surprised to see Lawler and Steadman not make it. Steadman had a lot of turnovers at the weekend but made a lot of chances too. Lawler was fast and aggressive.
Cuts from Worlds team: Erickson, Rigsby, Schoullis, Steadman.
New: Buesser, Dunne, Pankowski, Pucci, Schaus, Stack.

Not sure BC would have lost more than 3 games this year had Carpenter not been selected.

How does it work now for Pankowski? Does she actually start her freshman year the following season with the 2014-2015 incoming freshmen class at Wisconsin that includes Rolfes, Wellhausen, Cianfirano -- all members of this past years U-18 team? If that's the case, this could be a VERY strong incoming class at UW!

Regarding the 9 D, my guess is that 2 of them will not make the final cut to 21 players that will happen probably in December.
That depends on whether or not she makes the final cut and Coach Johnson decides to bring her in mid-year if she doesn't. Otherwise, yes, she'll redshirt this coming season and come in with the 2014 recruits.
