Re: US Junior Team Part II

The person that dinged me for this is an idiot. Try reading the other posts leading to it and get some context. Also, check your eyes for missing the smiley, then fix your sarcasm meter. Dolt.

I'd positive you, but it sez I cannot. I got your joke.

It was probably one of our monkey-boy twins...

Re: US Junior Team Part II

Sportscenter gave the GWG the third best play of the night. Not too bad, but the two was from a soccer game and the one was a regular season NHL goal.

Really?

I probably shouldn't post anything about it, because it doesn't really bother me too much. But, I just wanted to make sure they felt dumb. :p

I have been refilled already, but thanks for the offer.

Seriously, though. Back to hating Gardiner, Ramage, Stepan, Kristo, etc... How this team played together is going to make it tough, though.

I hear ya, but then again, I was able to root for Frazee and even Kessel when they wore the red white and blue in this tourney.

I can overlook hating Schroeder as there are so many others to choose from...

Man it was fun to see these kids come together and accomplish this.

Have to work on downloading, editing and packing, but just wanted to say

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: US Junior Team Part II

Some random thoughts:

I love the cheer...led by Kristo... and here's why: Canada would hate it. Yeah, the US didn't kick their backside as the cheer alleges, but the sheer level of Canadian fan arrogance makes that fact absolutely meaningless. As far as I'm concerned: Canada---- SUCK IT.

Mike Lee.... 3 goals on 7 shots.... 2 goals absolutely the WEAKEST in recent memory... ok, since 2004 when a certain Canadian goaltender helped us win.. THAT was a weak goal. But anyways... I'm happy Blais wasn't so blinded by "his boy" not to pull him and put in Campbell.

Campbell rocks. Seriously. Michigan fans should be sad about losing him. Bryan Hogan....What'shisface that was before him.... SUCK compared to Campbell and he's not even in college yet.

I'm SO happy we won.

I wonder what the WCHA would be like if they had the quality officiating displayed in the WJC?

Carlson skipped out on college... too bad. He would have been fun to watch.

D'Amigo... a lot of big time programs missed out on him. Congrats to RPI. You've got your best player since... Adam Oates?

To quote brianvf (I think): Could someone explain to me how in the world Kreider has less than 5 goals this season for BC? The dude can play.

I think Stepan has to be among the best Captains Team USA's U20 team has had in a very long time.

YAY US!

No doubt.
A few days ago, when they were tasked with beating Finland, and then Sweden, I really doubted that they could make it to the Gold Medal game at all. Now look at them. Great team victory.

The best since Brad Tapper I'd say, he was a pretty solid collegiate player but never got much in the way of national attention. Hopefully D'Amigo can go the Oates route and bring home more hardware to Troy.

Re: US Junior Team Part II

A couple of thoughts:
1) Was it me or was the US defense completely tentative throughout this game. I was shocked at how frequently they were afraid to passs the puck out of the defensive zone and instead tried to carry it solo out of thew zone.
2) The US went into a complete shell once they got the 2 goal lead. Hello? Remember what got you there? The defense collapsed around Campbell and gave the talented Candaian forwards unlimited time to work their magic...it was just a matter of time.
3) Stepan is quite a player, but until his goal, I thought he was invisible tonight. Watching him, I thought he played like he was hurt. Was he? Seemed very tentative to finish his checks.
4) Jerry D'Amigo is quite a player

Congrats to this team on an unbelievable win! One they will never forget....

This

There were leaders in this stat or that stat, but over the course of two weeks, everyone contributed to the result. No player or hot goalie carried all the weight. A true team effort.

Also, no one should be calling out Lee as he played very well against Finland and Sweden to get us to the big game. Both goalies did their jobs.

Re: US Junior Team Part II

Completely agree on point 2. They shelled up and tried to trap their way to victory. That works in D-III and sometimes in D-I, it ain't working against Canada.

Re: US Junior Team Part II

EVERYONE keep your hands off our coach!!!!! :D

But it's now ok to pour a drink (Gatorade???) on his head, unlike the Alaskan bozo that poured his drink on Coach after UNO scored early their last game, in Alaska, a couple weeks ago.

Don't lump the rest of us in with those idiots...

The grit, character and team chemistry on this team was second to none. Their shot blocking, speed, endurance and tenacity was phenomenal. Their biggest turn around was rebounding off after the tough loss on NYE and continuing to play their game. Just an awesome tournament.

In a rare moment of brilliance, I got it right before OT ;) :

This is USAs TIME!!!!! This is it!!!

Carlson's slide and adrenaline rush after a golden shot, as a young and stunned Canada fan stands in disbelief:

I'll say that he is the best since Pirri. :p

Re: US Junior Team Part II

I can't believe the US didn't fold in OT after losing that 2 goal lead, great stuff. Blaiser must have had something to do with that:D Very impressed with D'Amigo that kid can play but so can the rest of them so I'm not surprised. When Greg Moore came back after their win he was a different player. I expect the college kids who come back will be different players also.
