Re: US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

Basically, the UK just voted against their interests primarily out of a fear and distrust of foreigners.

I fear that this is an indicator of what's to come for us in a few months.

Trump will without question try to grab that nationalistic wave and surf it into November, but the public here in genera is not going to fall for it beyond the lunatics that are already frothing at the mouth and a small % of undecideds.

And he says that Brexit is a great idea in SCOTLAND!!

It's the 30s again. Charming.

WW1 and The Treaty of Versailles tried to kill nationalism but look where we are 100 years later.

USSR - broken up
Yugoslavia - broken up
Czechoslovakia - broken up

Will be see the Act of Union dissolved? The Scots and Irish will do what is best for them and sod off to London.

If it goes through? Absolutely. Northern Ireland and Scotland supposedly rely upon EU monies to fund infrastructure improvements.

And they are P O right now.

Everyone is talking about the divorce without knowing what the terms are. Oh, there is going to be a divorce all right (unless the Holy See gets involved, but Britian's been there before :) ).

But will the divorce be amicable or fugg ugly?

It's England, Ireland, and Scotland, of course it'll be fugg ugly.

It wasn't Great Britain who was stupid, it was England.

It's typical English hubris. Call and Englishman a European and see how he bristles. England's marriage to the EU was always going to be tenuous. Why do people think the British Pound survived the creation of the Euro? They were only ever willing to put one foot into the pool rather than jumping in like the rest? The Deutschmark and French Franc are history, they have been since day one, but never the Pound.

If and when the world does break down to super-conferences, the UK belongs with FVEY (UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada), I suppose recast as 8EY (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada).

Bring India and South Africa along and that's an economic powerhouse. Maybe the Philippines too for a toe hold in SEA.

England has always been half in and half out of Europe.

While Australia and S Africa are in England's circle. I don't know that the US would be. England's independence might force the US to choose, which it won't like and there is more economic and geopolitical interest in a EU. And even with history on its side, Canada would likely hang with the US. That is as long as the EU hangs together.

True or False?

@dick_nixon: The world would absolutely be better if Saddam Hussein were left alone and in power. Get off your high horses.

Re: US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

The world outside Iraqi borders was never at risk with little Saddam in charge.
