Panic selling by the Remains.

If you have some money to gamble, buy the pound this AM. It will recover.

Yep, I think that's a good bet. I wish I knew how to do that. (No I don't. I don't gamble.)

You watching BBC?

Just a thought - if the USA held a vote to leave the UN, would we get a 70%+ turnout?

I'm watching Sky but surfing BBC.

If the US had a stand-alone referendum on the UN it would probably have a 25% turnout and every one of them would be a tin foil hatter.

We shouldn't do that.

It's a little more complicated than it should be to purchase foreign currency as an investment. Most companies will likely set a large-ish minimum purchase quantity, similar to how brokerage houses used to charge you more for breaking round lots of stock (round lot = 100 shares).

All right - what about leaving NAFTA??

Re: US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

Any foreshadowing about the power of nationalism that this will cast onto November in the US?

Re: US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

Sky has a Tory spokesperson on who is basically saying British firms that export to the EU might move off the island.

We're about to see a really interesting economic experiment.

Re: US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

We see the stupid referendums in California every election, don't we? It'd be nation-wide instead.

But those are paired with an election. joe and I are talking about a referendum with nothing else on the ballot. I think we'd have crickets unless it was about American Idol.

Are folks really surprised by this? The Brits never really went all in as they kept their own currency instead of adopting the Euro.

Want a great question? ==> What would be the turnout and result if Texas voted on secession?

Wow.

That is a great question.

In Texas, 95%. If the rest of the country voted too, still probably pretty high.

It would pass about 80-20.

Turnout would be high, and the final vote would be a lot closer than the secessionists would expect. There's been a huge influx of people into Texas from other states over the past 10-15 years, so the Texas Proud thing wouldn't sit so heavily with them. Also, there are groups of people who might be rightfully scared of what living conditions in that state would become if it were to secede. Also, corporations would be spending huge amounts of money against it.

Rest of the country wouldn't vote, just Texas (just like only Britain, not the whole EU, today).

My guesses are turnout over 75% and approval in the low 60s%

If just Texas I think it would pass by whatever their idiot governor won by (I mean the current idiot governor, not Perry or Dubya. Good Lord, what a state.)
