I don't think that is what he is talking about. The idea is everyone (Russia, West, China) is terrified of what happens if Russia decapitates itself when the population realizes how inept and corrupt Dump, sorry, Putin is. The fact of a stable government in exile that is coordinating and preparing makes it less scary. This is what de Gaulle did with France during WW2, as well as several other Nazi-occupied governments. Portugal did it in Brazil during the Napoleanic wars.

It might not be the worst thing to try to plan ahead with Slave States here, in case they go into civil disorder if their population ever realizes just how they have been used by the GOP. Our local feudal states are something we take for granted because they have existed for our entire lives. But things change, and it is possible they will reach a crisis. It can't be fun being trapped in the 16th century.

It is what Project Valkyrie in WW2 was attempting to do only instead of setting up the shadow government first they did it almost in tandem which is why when the bomb didn't go off correctly they werent in a position to still make it work. They waited too long to get it going and their desperation cost them what would have been a much better ending to the war for Germany.

Lol, FU Orban. Please tell us how your buddy Putin is "respecting" the cultural identity of Ukraine. Or how Republicans are "respecting" the cultural identity of anyone in the US who isn't a white, Xtian male?

Speaking with the Bloomberg news agency in an interview at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha this week, Hungary’s populist-nationalist leader stressed the importance for countries such as the United States to respect the cultural identity of others, particularly for the left-wing Democrat party, which despite professing tolerance as a virtue seems to often struggle to embody it themselves.

“I would say that the American Democrats are far more ideologically led than the Republicans. The Democrats always like to convince you and sometimes force you how to live and I don’t like it,” he continued.

“We have our own culture, the culture defines how we live, don’t interfere, please. Don’t educate us, don’t say what is good, what is bad, we don’t like that, it’s not your job, it’s not the job of the Americans or any other nation, it’s the job of the Hungarians.”

End the Right.

More F-16s than they originally asked for likely headed their way sometime soon. Well worth it, I say, despite Erdogan’s tendencies.

The Bulgarian Pederast has his place with China. A reduction of tension with them is in the interests of whirled peas.

Imperialism: Lessons from History

Kep-you'd like it.

Guh. VDH cannot help himself. He is such a fool:

The British Empire, admittedly the most civilizing and humane of any empire in history

George Orwell’s nightmare dystopia in 1984 was a world in which there were no nation-states, but rather three powers wielding absolute control over three land masses into which everyone had been aggregated. Something like this is the dream of Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum and his fellow globalists (many of them American) who meet annually in Davos. Their vision is of a transnational ruling class, consisting of elites drawn mostly from the business, political, media, and academic worlds, with the power to issue edicts on climate change, public health, diversity, human rights, and even taxes, that override the will of national majorities.

Nobody's buying your bullsh-t anymore, Victor. It's not 2004. Tell us again how grinding Iraqi and Afghani children into paste will make America stronger and the world safer for the neoliberal order.

My favorite story about this eloquent, morally bankrupt AEI stooge is about him going batsh-t crazy and accusing the War Nerd (a fictitious character) of poisoning his vines.

Joe: we all know what's causing the downfall of America. It's not the Lessons of History, it's the selfish, ignorant policies the Right pursued for the last 43 years. They gave us 9/11, the Great Recession, the hollowing out of the Middle Class, and they exacerbated COVID, and they were all enabled by accessories before and after the fact like VDH and his band of comfortable wingnut welfare queens.

No. I don't like it. It's smarter than the MAGAts, yeah, but it's still the type of superficial pseudo-historical hooey you can pick up from any lazy public intellectual from Jordan Peterson to Peter Zeihan. Pfft.

I’m not even learned enough to have heard of that guy, and even *I* could tell that was hot cherry-picked garbage.

VDH is classic Shockley syndrome. I recommend him when he writes about the structure of the classical military. He talks with great eloquence and knowledge about how ancient warfare revolved entirely around the harvest. Because mother nature doesn't wait, if you were besieging a city and they were about to give up but harvest time came, you f-cked back home because of course you did, otherwise your entire city starved.

But once he gets outside of his tiny area of expertise he's as unqualified as the rest of us, and he still comes in blaring as if his PhD is universalized. That's what makes him complete trash. That and he is bought and paid for by the type of Hoover-Huntington PNAC limp d-cks who say oh noes not Dumpy and then wax about the American Century.

He is in fact exactly the same as Robert Redford when it comes to opining about modern geopolitics. He has exactly the same lack of credibility and only gets to speak because he made his bones doing something utterly unrelated.
