Wouldn't be surprised, but I think it's extremely limited. There's a reason our manned jets are staying at about the same distance as commercial. We're literally talking about nuclear war if something happens.

To Handy's point above, I was talking with my wife about the US offer to extract Zelinsky and I legitimately didn't understand it. How do you send Americans into Ukraine without risking all of our lives? If they were shot down or their convoy got hit, there isn't a person alive who could withstand the pressure to retaliate. Maybe biden does resist, but then we lose the elections by 30 points.

Maybe I’m wrong but I think you and others are naive to what is actually happening. It wouldn’t shock me if we have had manned aircraft over Ukraine airspace most of the conflict and most definitely unmanned. I’m sure we are resupplying them from NATO nations. I think people are a little negative on our military Iraq and Afghanistan but it truly does have amazing capability.

The EU just closed its airspace to Russian planes. FedEx and UPS suspended service in Russia. BP is getting out. Russian banks are running out of dollars. The ruble is crashing. Putin is finally getting his dream of taking Russia back to the USSR, an impoverished, hermit kingdom.

The videos out there of Ukrainians taking abandoned tanks and supplies is awesome. Putin drank too much of his own Kool aid he forgot his military is antiquated. He also forgot the Orange Diaper Sniffer lost so none of the mediocre planning is gonna work.

Because we would probably tell them. Seriously.

This kind of communication happens all the time. When we bombed the Syrian airbase in retaliation, we notified the Russians when and where so they wouldn't have anyone in the area. The Russians also notified us of certain Syrian missions to make sure they wouldn't mistakenly come across American soldiers.

This sort of communications happened all the time during the Israeli-Arab conflicts.

As it is, there's been reports that the US is considering back channel communications with the Russian military to make sure no mistakes are made along the Ukraine-Poland border.

BP says its exit from Rosneft would result in charges of up to $25 billion at the end of the first quarter.

Rosneft accounts for around half of BP's oil and gas reserves and a third of its production.

yep. There are zero manned flights over Ukraine. There probably aren't a lot of drones either. Those drones aren't small and would easily be smoked by SAMs the Russians have. They're slow, big, and have zero anti missile defenses.

The ruble would cease to be a convertible currency. It would revert to being the pseudo-currency of Soviet times: something used for record-keeping purposes inside Russia, but without the ability to buy goods or services on international markets.

And in the modern digitized world, that money cannot be used without the agreement of somebody’s central bank. You could call it Berstam’s law: “Do not fight with countries whose currencies you use as a reserve currency to maintain your own.”

I would think the CIA has assets inside right now but I doubt there’s a single combat soldier right now. We can backchannel, help resupply and continue getting intel without directly involving any soldiers
