Poland's voter turnout reportedly the highest since the first free elections after the fall of the Iron Curtain; something like 72-73%.

My fault. I’m generally sarcastic, and upon review, that post had sarcasm written all over it. Like Kep said, the important thing will be forming a functioning governing coalition, including one that’ll help Ukraine. Time will tell, but for now, well done, Poland.

So you have a partisan (minority) subcommittee report, and some perma-DC afficionado from DC.

I'm shocked - SHOCKED, I say - at these opinions. SO compeLOLOLOLOLOLOL ...

QUESTION: Which administration will be viewed more harshly - the Carter Admin or the Magoo Admin?

Personally, now that Magoo has his own American hostage crisis, I think Carter moves up to second worst ...

The US managed a little over 66-67% turnout for 2020, which was our best since the turn of the 20th century (before 19A and the VRA). Similarly, midterm turnout in 2018 topped 50%, but then dipped to 46% in 2022.

I think 70% may be achievable for 2024, with even more Zoomers coming of age (born before Nov 2006 would be the cutoff for '24) and the Republicans showing no signs of backing away from the criminal they support.

To reach that amount, we'll need to continue to take advantage of mail-in voting, which allowed us to reach a historically high participation rate in a difficult time with one of the lowest levels of fraud ever.

Are under 30s increasing as a percentage of the population? If so, while that will help with the results it won't help with turnout. The utes are better than they used to be but still not dependable voters (and/or still effectively* suppressed by the GOP).


* Here's a fun statistic. The mode of the white population in the US is 58. The mode of the black population in the US is 27.

If you are a little rusty on your stats, mode is the value with the highest frequency in the range. Now. Think about that difference.

seems to be tied to the Swede Quran burning which ironically wasn’t done by Swedes
