Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

the biggest guy to watch on that list is Barriball. Can he bounce back and have a good season?

True, but Fairchild needs to bounce back and Wehrs needs to continue to improve. Wehrs was probably the most improved player on the team last year.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

he could run up quite the tab at Green Mill. I know I have. :)

If he wanted a sh^tty chain restaurant, he would have asked you directly. He didn't though, so go back to crashing planes and shut the hell up.

Did they forget the frosting on your cupcake?

there are no cupcakes to be found in Nodak.... they all play for the gophers.

Maybe Dirty can find a pic of some of the blond goofs of the past and then we can see what a frosted cupcake looks like...

No wonder you guys are so **** crabby all the time. It must be sure hell to live in a place without any trees, without any cupcakes, and the only thing that will grow is a sugar beet. At least at NDSU they get to watch a bison go by every now and again.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

The word I'm receiving from USA's World Junior evaluation camp in Lake Placid is that the play of young centers Brock Nelson, Nick Bjugstad and Charlie Coyle has been the talk of the camp.
All three players were first round NHL draft picks last month, and all three players have size.and speed. Bjugstad was picked 19th by Florida. While Coyle went to the San Jose Sharks and Nelson was chosen by the New York Islanders. Bjugstad is 6-4. Brock is 6-3 and Coyle is 6-2.
"They are very involved in the play," said USA Hockey's assistant executive director Jim Johannson said. "They all appear to be solid all-around players."
The Americans will defend their World Championship in Buffalo over the Christmas holiday, and they will have a veteran team, particularly on defense and in net with Dallas draft pick Jack Campbell. The Americans also have speed and experience on the wing.

"If the three centerman are the real deal, and they have been so far, we should have a formidable group," Johannson said.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Sanders is the most expensive place in Grand Forks I think. Their website sucks though. The Toasted Frog's website doesn't suck.
The Toasted Frog has the best food in GF, period. Try the filet and cheesy pickles for an app if you are disappointed with the meal it's because you are a low taster. ;)

Really Dirty, Sanders? Top $ does not equal quality, I would rather eat at the Bronze Boot than Sanders with the exception of Thursday night sushi.
Sounds like we're going to The Toasted Frog, going with some of the guys from the university that we're working with and they suggested this place too. Thanks for the suggestions. Here comes a $300 charge to the corporate card!

I live 5 blocks from the toasted frog. Let's make it a $400 charge. :D

How come you didn't ever work in Grand Forks when I lived there? :p

No trees? Then what the heck was that big wooden thing with leaves that fell on my neighbor's house during the last storm?

Well, if you can't figure out what is was, it probably did fly in from Montana.

Happy: Why are you gracing us with your presence? Shouldn't you be off tweeting about Ness pondering an early departure?

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Nice article about the goalie situation for the USA WJC team. Apparently Gothberg had had some earlier difficulty adjusting from high school to the speed of the game at this level but is now pushing hard for the number one spot.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=535647

The graduate of Thief River Falls (Minn.) High School was taken in the sixth round of this year's draft by the Boston Bruins, but playing with the top under-20 talent in the world is a pretty big leap.

"It's crazy just how quick they can shoot it and stuff compared to the level I used to play at," Gothberg told NHL.com. "It's been a lot with tracking and stuff, had some problems starting out, but now I've gotten into a groove and settled down and I'm able to track pucks better."

Exter has followed Gothberg since last summer, when they were together with the U.S. team at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, and he has been very pleased with Gothberg's development.

"Over the course of the time that I have seen him, starting last year, he has a very good skill set," Exter said. "Now he's being able to take that skill and put it to work at a higher level. It's his first time going through that. For me, I'm very pleased with how calm he's stayed and how confident he's played."
