University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

From the UND blog:

Pretty crazy that UND is that high despite only really knowing so far that Forbort, Simpson, and Rodwell are coming in for sure (by comparison, UMN has over 10 recruits coming in next season). Red Line ranks solely based on NHL potential though, and both Forbort and Simpson are way up there.
Michigan does not own this?

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Evidently they're not even on the list.
Must be some sort of mistake. ;)

I bet Michigan fell from #1 to #11 once goalie World Jr. goalie Jack Campbell decommitted from Michigan and signed with Windsor of the OHL. ;)

I think Michigan was rated highly a year or so ago, but with the loss of Campbell and lack of development in NTDP players Moffatt, Fallon and Clare, Michigan did not get ranked.

From Schlossman's twitter:

Speculation after Force game is that St. Clair won't be back... which would mean he's coming to UND. Haven't confirmed that yet, though.

That would surprise me if St. Clair is the other forward recruit to come in.
Both him and Danny Mattson seem like they could use another year in the USHL (going off of their stat lines).
We know that Rodwell is coming in already. Most people seemed to think that Nelson would be the one coming in early if needed...pull an Oshie and coming straight from MN HS.

If he would come in and produce like Oshie, I'm all for it! ;) :D

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

From the current issue of Sports Illustrated comes that publication's most recent installment of its "Sign of the Apocalypse" item.

===> A man who stole a $1,200 autographed Wayne Gretzky jersey off the wall of a sports bar in Bismarck, North Dakota, was arretsed after he wore the jersey in public that same day.<====

Who says them hockey fans in NoDak aint smart? ;)

Of course, you failed to mention that the man who stole the jersey is from California! :p

Hey RocksForBrains, I'm just reporting what the rubes over at S.I. printed. Personally, I think it was Omaha or Seattle who stole the jersey. Buncha NoDak hooligans.

I was not visiting my brother in Bismarck on May 2nd, and we did not go to the Stadium Sports Bar on Divide Ave, and we did not drink any beer, and I don't know anything about any size 42 jersey signed by some obscure Canadian hockey player. ;)

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Tut tut, failing to check your facts again. :p :D

Facts? Ya mean like that insidious, mindless jibberish you pass off on unsuspecting undergrads in that "Johnny Appleseed, The Pinks Rocks of NoDak and You" class you teach? [and I use the word 'teach' advisedly] Puh-leeze.

Have a good weekend Rockenheimer.

hey, just cause he teaches a boring subject that no one wants to lean about doesn't mean you should make fun of him. :p

Either Nelson, St. Clair, or Mattson would appear to be the ones most likely to come in. Maybe even Ryan Walters who decommited from UMN.

Not Ryan Walters.
According to multiple sources, Walters is going to Omaha to play under Dean Blais. He will more than likely light up the Gophers each time they play. ;)

Collegehockey247 has some nice things to say about St. Clair.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Oshie pulls a Jonathan Toews-like shootout heroics:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=529485

The United States narrowly defeated Italy, 3-2 in a shootout, Tuesday in its final game at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship tournament in Germany. The win saved the U.S. the embarrassment of being demoted from the IIHF's top division, something that last happened in 1982.

The shootout lasted seven rounds, and Oshie, a St. Louis Blues center, took five of those attempts for the U.S. (IIHF rules allow for teams to re-use shooters after three different players have shot). Oshie scored on three of his five attempts.

For what it's worth, I compared Heisenberg's 2010 list with the 2011 list for UND. He has St. Clair, Forbort, Rodwell and Nick Mattson removed from the 2011 list.

Blais is the master of finding guys like this.
