William Whitelaw is a small right shot center for Wisconsin and he just entered the transfer portal. He is from Minnesota so Maine might not have a shot at him. He is a very highly rated recruit by neutral zones standards. A 4.5 star which is what the Nadeaus are. Nobody else on Maine is rated that high. Let’s hope Maine is at least trying to talk to him! He is 5’9” and 175 lbs and played for Shattuck. So maybe Barr can use his Shattuck connections to get him. If you read this description on elite prospects you’ll think they were talking about one of the Nadeaus. I wonder if he would like to center the Nadeau line?

He kicked a guy in the face while he was on the ground. He made his choices.

The University did a thorough investigation and determined that his behavior was in direct violation of the student athlete code of conduct which every athlete signs. He appealed the decision and lost. In my opinion the University made the right decision and he probably benefited from it later in life.

Jesus, all this portal mayhem...

I think the most important aspect of the whole deal will be whether Maine is viewed as a feeder-school or a destination-school by talented guys in the portal.

Barr is making Maine a more attractive option (by far) than Red ever did, but I don't see that as a done deal just yet. Not even close, really.

I'd hate to be a college coach right now. What a cluster- ***k.

According to this rumor website it is likely Breen, Ostman, and Charbrier will get pro offers. Evidently Ostman had an offer last season and opted to come back. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2024/03/2024-college-free-agency-preview-centers.html

I really don't see any of them as legit NHL prospects, except for maybe Breen as a 4th-line guy for a cup of coffee or two on a bad team.

Victor will never see the ice in The Show, ditto Charbrier.

Wish all of them well; I've been wrong before.

Seems now Maine is favorable as far as a program on the rise, a ncaa playoff caliber roster, young roster, with a couple of ringers looking for a center and power play unit mates, good coach with history of developing players, success at roster building where he’s been, strong fan base playing in one of, if not the, best atmospheres, renovations upgrading lockerooms, weight rooms, theatre room, recovery pools, etc…

The down side is I don’t know how Maine competes with NIL. Because I had heard nothing but was surprised to hear Maine had three players getting NIL. The only one discussed was Brazeale getting NIL through a deal with US Cellular. I would think the Nadeaus would be prime for being the face of some local Maine businesses. LL Bean? Old Town Canoes? Irving? Hannaford? IDEXX? Etc…

Been thinking the same thing.
Switching out players of similar skill aint getting you there.
Maines not getting the players if NU, MN, WI, QU etc etc list is quite long, are interested.
Picking up a gem like Scott is the only hope, but whats the chances.

Chabrier over Breazeale, makes no sense.

I think they are not looking at play in their own end, evidently. If you are looking at who mans the point better on the power play Charbriere wins. He reminds me of Rob Michel where the offensive talent is there but the mistakes in his own end will take time to go away. But for a pro frame and a guy that can log a lot of minutes, lug the puck, and play sound defense Brazeale wins. He’s gotta work on that first pass under pressure from deep in his own end though. Then again, they all do.

By pro offers it includes AHL, which is who Houle just signed with… San Jose’s AHL team.

How does that work for Canadien or for that matter other foreign players on the NIL...because of visas...green card are they not able to benefit from NIL..??
