University of Maine Off-season 2024: Insert Pun Here

Is the football team at least getting a $500,000 pay day for going to Montana State and getting destroyed?

The 1st quarter was abysmal. After that Maine moved better on offense and outscored them the rest of the way even though Montana State had called off the dogs and started subbing. Montana State would easily go 8-0 in the CAA....I think that Maine's offense will score some points in their league and if the D can tighten things up....Maine could have a winning season.

The only significant changes I would make are moving Northeastern to 3 and swapping MC and UML.

I think Merrimack did pretty well in the portal. Not sure UML did enough to warrant swapping with Merrimack. Northeastern was pretty solid down the stretch, so could see you being close there.

ORONO, Maine - Maine Athletics concluded a record fundraising year with the department raising $10.6 million in gifts and pledges during the 2024 fiscal year, which ran from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. Nearly 2,100 supporters made individual gifts or pledges to the department, all to directly support Black Bear Athletics.

A total of $9.3 million of the $10.6 million raised during the 2023-24 season was committed to the Advancing Athletics Master Facilities Fund. This number excludes the $80 million commitment made by the Harold Alfond Foundation to support the Athletics Facilities Master Plan. Combining that pledge, which was made to the UMaine System, Maine Athletics secured $90.6 million in gifts and pledges last fiscal year.

Kind of quiet for this time of year. Usually we've had a half dozen "what are the starting lines going to look like" or "what's going to happen with xyz player" post by now.

I'll start stirring some chit!

What's going to happen with Niemo? I thought he was going to come in and light it up last year. Clearly I was mistaken! Looking at the depth chart he's probably the 9th - 12th forward. Does he bounce back or is he the next Felix Trudeau and joins him at Sacred Heart next year?

It will certainly be interesting to see the opening lines
. It looks a pretty deep group. I wonder who gets to play with Breen and Nadeau.

Probably Mitton? Unless they think that is too top heavy, maybe then it becomes PP1 instead and not the regular first line.

Haven't posted much in the offseason, but I'm very excited to see them get back into action. Perhaps a homer take, but I don't think it's impossible that Maine could climb to second in HEA, even if it is unlikely. BU lost both of their two best players to the NHL in the offseason in Celebrini and L. Hutson, maybe they slip just a bit.

Niemo will get a regular shift, he was hurt last year and that set him back.

I’m super jacked for this season. Losing Bradly felt like it could be devastating but super pleased with the work done in the portal and to have Breen and Josh back is awesome.

There’s a few guys I could see getting the privilege to play with Breen and Nadeau. My picks in no order would be Makar, Mitton, Scholle, Fowler and Niemo. The biggest thing will be finding someone who can skate with those two. Whoever gets the opportunity will likely have the best season of their career so I’m sure a lot of guys will be hoping to land it.

I was thinking Mitton too. If you watch him play he is a right shot that sets up for one timer off wing well like Bradley did.
