Some news from the season ticket holder front. The package will include 19 home games.

Army Exhibition Game
The Army exhibition game on October 12th will not be included in the season ticket package. You do have priority to purchase the same seats for that game at a discounted rate. You can do so anytime before the season ticket holder renewal deadline on August 2nd. You may do so by calling in, stopping at the office, or visiting your online account and purchasing them though the renewal tab.

Portland Game
The Portland game will not be included in season ticket packages this year. Tickets will be sold directly through Ticketmaster. TBD on more details.

Season Ticket Holder Presale
All season ticket holders will be able to pre-purchase up to 8 additional tickets per account at face value before they go on sale to the public. This can be done on August 12-23 between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM over the phone at 207-581-2327 or in person at the Black Bear Ticket Office.

ETA: Season tickets sold out. Flex plans go on sale August 13, single games on August 27.

Curious that Saturday half-season ticket holders are not getting the regular season opener vs. AIC on Saturday, Oct. 5.

I'm going to guess it's because there are 19 home games, and the other 18 are all pairs. So to make it nine that was the obvious one to omit.

Yet I'm purchasing a Saturday half-season ticket package. I would expect all regular season home games at Alfond be part of that package, no? If they had to increase the price.....fine. But now I have to call up and order tickets separately as does everyone else who has the Saturday half-season ticket package. Not sure why this decision was made but with it being the season opener I'm probably not the only one that is a bit irritated.

As a half season ticket holder do you get to purchase extra tickets before the general public?

The answer is NO. I don’t want “extra” tickets. I want my damn seats for the season opener on Saturday, Oct. 5! Since some dummy made the decision not to include that game in my Saturday half-season package….I now have to wait until Aug.13 along with everyone else to purchase the seat that I thought was already included because no one communicated this decison to half-season ticket holders before they purchased them.

Tell us which seat it is so we can all compete for it, Just for fun!

Just kidding. It seems like they should just have included it in the half package and charged the extra price for the extra game.

I can’t imagine many people would have complained. “Hey you made me buy one more ticket than half of the games, and it is the season opener… noooo fair!” I can’t see many/any Maine fans saying that. It seems how they did it is more irritating because they might not get their seat for the first game.

Team announced presumably our new third string goalie today.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/564865/gage-stewart

Stewart posted some highlights from 22/23 CCHL season on his YT: Part 1 & Part 2

As you said he's likely not much more than just the third goalie, but color me impressed with some of the saves on his tape. Lot of really good reaction saves and strong second/third effort stops. Video is from a couple seasons ago so hopefully his movement has gotten less clunky and he's grown into his size.

After how well Boija turned out last year I'll be interested to see how he looks in person. Hopefully between the construction and the attempted theft from that UMass dad last season they still let people in to watch practices.

Also, Maine announced the 24/25 roster today.

I think chemistry and how he fits in off the ice is probably more important than how good he is. If he has to play much Maine is screwed.

He looks pretty solid to me Fundamentals are good and he reacts quickly, covers a lot of net. Wouldnt be one bit afraid to put him out on the ice.

Larrys article. "On Monday, they began assessing their work as the team started optional workouts on campus with 10 newcomers along with fifth-year senior co-captain Lynden Breen, who is coming off a minor knee surgery in May."
_----------------
How did Breen hurt a knee? Was he playing injured at the end of the season?

"The other veterans will return this weekend for the six-week camp.

“It always comes down to depth,” said Barr, who will begin his fourth season in the fall. “If you look at the last couple of games we lost, our (lack of) depth was exposed.”

Barr said the goal is to be a four-line team instead of relying on three lines like last season.

“If we can get to be a four-line team, which we feel we will have this coming season, it’s going to be tough to beat us,” said Barr. “We had three (reliable) lines last season. We couldn’t put the fourth line out there (regularly). We only had two lines that could play two years ago.”"

I'm not sure Maine will have a stronger 4th line than last year. Pabich, Lindauer and Trudeau were all good college hockey players. They're replaced with unknowns. My guess is:

Scholle Breen Nadeau
Freel Scott Mitton
Makar Renwick Fowler

Then 3 from:

Komorov, Pichette, Carney, Niemo, Russell, Calafiore

I think Mitton sets up off wing at the dot nicely like Brad did so well. So maybe he will play LW on first line despite being a RW like Brad did.

That leaves Freel-Scott-Scholle intact from last year. I like the offense Scholle generated from his off wing on the right side when he would cut up into the slot. He had some nasty wristers from that high slot. It was a great second line last year.

The third line you have will be interesting. It can probably play very heavy. As far as the 4th line nothing would surprise me.

I think Pichette has a nice one timer and good shot. So it wouldn’t surprise me to see him off wing on 4th line at LW to see how he does.

I am very excited to see the boys play again. Barr has done very well putting a team out there that we are all excited to see again.

Mitton mostly played RW at Colgate so I wonder how well he'd handle a switch to the off-wing. There is a really nice spot next to Breen-Nadeau up for grabs.

Wonder if Makar will get the first crack at that spot given the need for some extra size on that line. If he can prove to be a disrupter on the forecheck that will make things much easier for 27 & 20 to operate.

Have to think the fourth line will be in flux all the time, but whoever can be trusted in the faceoff dot will likely carve out a nightly spot. Couldn't find any faceoff stat data to have any idea if any of Raferty/Komarov/Pichette are solid in the dot.

Is Raftery coming in? I didn’t see him listed on the goblackbears roster.

I think that is why they added transfer Charlie Russell. He is a 4th line physical center type.

I think Raftery, Komarov, and Pichette all played RW last year.
