I don't think Josh is drafted, is he? Depending on how old he is, he's probably eligible to sign for anyone (CAR included).
He could....but watch out for Montreal...but signing with Carolina is possible.

Sparkee you must be accounting the signing bonus into that right?
$855,000 a year if he plays for the Hurricanes in 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26. He will receive $82,500 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level for all three seasons.
You can bet Josh is going, if you are going to get beat up in games might as well get paid for it. Funny how Maines chances of repeating this season or better next year took a dumpster dive this past weekend. Probably a good thing season tickets have been flying off the shelf. At least goaltending will be improved next season.
If you add the signing bonus you get my numbers, which is what he will gross in 3 years.
He does get Bonus money up front...at least that was my understanding...in the range of $285k..?...was that a misprint on bonus money paid out.?
I don't think that the Nadeaus were big on the collegiate experience to begin with.....at least that's the vibe that I've had. Bradly especially seemed somewhat detached and emotionless on the ice. It definitely seemed like there were other places that he'd rather be.
Don't think getting a higher education was at the top there to-do list....but from what I heard he was intending on coming back to Maine[82]for one more year...Carolina had alot to do with that recently..plus Josh gains nothing by staying(if he leaves)..he has options as a free agent...and that leaves Breen, who most likely will do the free agent route also....this Portal and high draft picks leaving can wreck progress @Maine...while others in this situation...BC/BU/MICH/MN/N.DAK just roll with the punch as they have solid depth and there incoming recruits either replace or are better then the players they lose on a yearly basis....Maine will regroup some-what...back to getting soild goaltending...gritty lucnhpail blue collar hockey...and hope...interesting beginning to the off season...
I wonder why Carolina would act like that. At first I thought perhaps it was just Canadian arrogance, and that those guys believe that major junior is the only way and that the CHL is superior to NCAA? But then I looked it up, and Don Waddell, CARs GM, is an American and is an alumnus of a school with an active D1 program (Northern Michigan). I'm not sure what their track record is with any other college prospects they've had, maybe it's compare him to the standard procedure for them to get their top prospects out of the college ranks as quickly as possible? Or maybe they don't believe in Barr's program, for some reason? I just find it odd on the timing, if they've watched any game footage they should be aware that while his potential is as high as advertised, he's very raw and has a lot of growing to do. Playing in the NCAA against older and stronger players, along with the top talent in the conference in particular, should be an attractive place to allow him to continue to develop.
Compare him to the other 1st round picks at BU and BC....Bradly has a long way to go in his development.

Exactly, which is why this is so confounding to me. I get the (purely speculative) feeling that somebody in unhappy with somebody else in this dynamic.
Could it be Car will trade him or just send him to the minors somehow and see how does. They must have some minor league path? The pay is set up so its not much of a financial investment by Car if he fails in the minors, if he doesnt and makes the big show then Car says OK fine.
Car might not have seen progress in his game this year so decided to take the chance.
Its puzzling, his advisory support may not be very realistic.
Keep an eye on Josh Nadeau...talks with Montreal....AHL/Laval deal with later deal with MTL.
I think folks are underestimating the goonery him and his bruv dealt with last year. No doubt guys in the nhl are much faster, stronger, tougher, etc but I think game in, game out you don’t see as many cheap shots. He’s going to likely be some random player at nhl level so not as much incentive to try to hurt him either.
Carolina might want to see him used a little differently too. They might want to see him play fewer minutes but play a lot harder than he did at Maine. I certainly wish him nothing but the best.
