University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

I'm anxiously excited about this weekend's games. The Friars are no joke and are going to be a real test. My forecast is a split being most likely, but that team does scare me, even with Connolley out.

Saw the PC/UConn games and UConn blew the second game with a dumb 5-minute penalty. UConn had all the momentum and lost it with a stupid selfish play. Cost UC important league points. Point being, I think Maine is better than PC. I predict Maine getting at least 4 of 6 pts this weekend.

I'm excited for it tbh. I like the content ECH puts out and the Gameday vibe should have the students in a frenzy.

Plus having ECH show the Alfond atmosphere can't hurt. I would love to see Chiclets campus tour come up once the facilities renovations are done.
Barr went on Game Notes, a podcast under the Chiclets umbrella and confirmed they'd do a campus tour after the renovations are complete. Barr and Matt Murley (one of the Game Notes hosts) are friends from college and lived together for several years.

That is a nice video they did for Western Michigan. Hopefully ours looks similar. Of course, the worst timing due to construction of new additions. Hopefully ours looks similar students show up in great numbers.
Last weekend the balcony looked a little spacious on the broadcast, but I haven't been to a game to confirm. How has student attendance been?

Overall not bad. There was a good amount last weekend but they were not as loud as other games. Sparse for teams like Merrimack in the student section. Best and rowdiest turn out was BU. Even BU taunted the fans after they won the shootout so you know they rode their ass all game.

Next weekend against UNH we will see how explosive it gets.

Loudest crowd with students in the last year- UNH playoff game by a mile.

I watched those games too, and paid attention.

My takeaway is that UConn and PC are cut from the same cloth, and that Maine might want to think about scoring 3 goals again this weekend...

(In both games.)
