University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

What I know is that it hasn't been fully determined but he felt a pop before it happened

Broken legs and fractures you can see on X-ray which is very fast to determine. All emergency rooms would be equipped with that at least.

MRI on the other hand might be something you need scheduled, which would be needed to diagnose conclusively if there are torn ligaments. I know when I had to have an MRI they had it in a truck that was parked against the building and had temporary entryway made of canvas to go to it. Sort of a lab in a truck trailer. My guess was an MCL tear, which is what supports the knee from sliding side to side. Each side of knee has MCL. This would be a reason why they are saying they need time. Because he would have it scheduled likely back at EMMC.

This is the kind of weekend that Maine would have struggled with in past years. They took care of business in the face of adversity. This team is really deep and seeing them wear a team down and finish third periods on the road is a great sign.

Hoping Breen is okay but have to admit as someone who was at the game, his reaction tells me it was really bad. The idea of that being his last game at Maine really makes me sad. He is the embodiment of everything this new era of Maine hockey has been about.

Mail him a letter
let him
know what his contribution means to you

i plan to send just a card

I wonder what he had for surgery last summer? You would think if it was structural (acl, mcl etc) he would have been wearing a brace similar to what offensive lineman wear?? Some players hate those braces though?? Shawn Wansborough recruited to Maine without Walshy knowing he had a torn ACL in one knee, tore the other knee senior year, continued to play with braces. Surgery after his career in Orono was over. Some folks can do that, generally you can't.

I hope this is the last time RPI is scheduled for a few years. They do nothing for the pairwise and too many dirty plays, the easy wins aren't worth it.

My first introduction to College Hockey was at RPI games as a kid. The atmosphere used to be great and the team at least competed. It's incredibly sad what's happened to them and the other non-Ivys in the ECAC. The programs can't compete for the higher end talent and end up with guys that make a name for themselves by throwing suspect hits. It wasn't too long ago that Maine was in a similar position (shoutout Malcom Hayes) so hopefully they can turn it around.

Does anyone know WTF is going on with Hockey East tickets that were supposed to be on sale this morning? Got in at 10am and the same balcony seats in ends that have been on sale
for days…were still the only ones available. Not a great look for the league considering the Thur/Fri schedule this year. We were able to get premium seats last year the minute they went in sale. I know that they save some sections for participating teams but literally half the seats in the Garden are unavailable. Disappointing.

Mitton's been good but he has another gear in him. I think he will be huge in the second semester.

It seemed the line got jumbled during the game at times, but for the most part looked like:

Freel/Scott/Mitton
Makar/Renwick/Nadeau
Fowler/Russell/Scholle
Pichette/Komarov/Califiore

I feel like Mitton’s strength is scoring in transition and setting up off wing on the left face off dot on power play. With Makar and Renwick they are on the boards and around the net. So you wonder if Mitton works better with faster transition mates like Russell or nifty passer that can dish him the puck on his off wing like Nadeau. Redistribute the lines to create 4 balanced ones. Now would be the time to do it vs. Stonehill at home.

what about:

Mitton/Komarov/Nadeau
Makar/Renwick/Pichette
Freel/Scott/Scholle
Fowler/Russell/Califiore

I bought in presale and got good seats for semis, but not good ones for the final. Seems they are holding back for final, or scalpers bought them up in bulk during the presale.

Also, be sure to buy your Manchester regional tickets. My friend told me code “Celebrate” and it worked. I got good seats for that one.

There were only 2 center ice sections available for pre-sale….every seat available this morning were the same ones available during the pre-sale. Why have a big 10am “on sale” this morning?

Looks like I'll be paying scalpers again this year for premium seats what a joke

Where is the link to the Manchester tickets it seems broken on their site

Most of the center sections are generally reserved for sale through the participating teams, right?

I didn't have any trouble getting seats in the Maine section last year once the semis were set.

Wrong. Most sections were available last year at the “on sale” time. There are no seats available right now between the goals….and there were no new seats released today….a total scam by Hockey East.

Seems like they want to sell the worst seats first and reserve the good seats to sell at a later date. Probably they think they can sell better that way. But that philosophy is penalizing the fan that is a die hard and prepared in advance. I was looking today also for better than what I got for the final, which is on an end.
