University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

That would be amazing. He has flashes of dominance while watching him this year. He’s got great power stride skating, can really accelerate and get to a top speed higher than everyone else. It is noticeable because of how big he is. I suppose though he would be in the category where he wouldn’t be in NCAA for long(2 years?).
 
I wonder if there has been a philosophy shift or if recruiting has finally turned the corner. It’s really encouraging to see higher caliber recruits coming in.

It's likely a combination of Maine gaining prominence again and the floodgates of CHL talent suddenly available. All teams are going to be better, but I think Maine has generally been one of the top Hockey East teams at recruiting the CHL talent.

UML, Providence, and UNH also brought in a bunch of talent. UMass has basically ignored it all together.
 
I had said earlier that I think this coming season could be a down year. I think I may have to take that back, the staff has done a great job of pulling together a great looking squad this offseason, and it isn't even really summer yet. And if the rumors some others have mentioned, of another 3rd round forward maybe also being on the way, it could be even better. Really excited for the year(s) ahead, and we are truly very fortunate to have the staff we do.

In fairness to that, the roster was looking a bit thin with all the graduations and transfers. Barr has done a great job finding some sneaky talent.

I think we'll all rest a little easier if they can land another talented forward to round out the roster, especially thinking back to last year with how much the depth was tested with all the injuries.

Noticed this earlier, but the Black Bears IG is following Rousseau. All the players they follow are current/former Black Bears.

Feels like only a matter of when not if that commitment is announced.
