42 is a good number in UMaine hockey history...I'm posting this r/collegehockey thread for no reason. Definitely not because the odds KRACH gives Maine to make the FF matches the number I pulled out of my behind.

Interesting they chose the new engineering building to have the gathering for the ncaa selection show.
Historically I recall it being in the Dexter Lounge in the Shawn Walsh Hockey Center. Obviously wasn’t an option with construction this year. Given the need for video conferencing to connect with ESPNU production teams, the infrastructure (and aesthetics) in that building probably made the most sense, IMO.Comments by Renwick, Fowler, etc…: https://youtu.be/xxsmquvDDgM?si=M2_dYeDTrZZqAvAO

Yeah, the end of that RS was a disaster. I had made the unfortunate decision to go the Amherst that weekend. Wilson was in goal, and both games were (therefore) hopeless efforts, and Maine still had some NHL talent back then.Maine played Mass 5 times almost in a row once. 2 to end the season. 2 to start the HE tourney. Lost them all. First round of NCAAs we beat someone else and then right back against Mass for the regional finals in Rochester. Finally won that one as Bishop returned from injury.
Easy there, Wilson stole the show with a shutout against UVM early on in the Bish injury period - I'll never forget a split save he made near the end of the game on a 2 on 0 or 2 on 1. Everything else was bad after that and he basically didn't play again until Darling was dismissed.Yeah, the end of that RS was a disaster. But, saw them in Rochester a while later, when Bish was back, and it looked like a routine walk-through.
Guess it's true what they say: it's all about the goaltending.
The Harvard game will ever be embossed in my mind. When I think of it (and I do on occasion), it makes me feel all happy inside.Easy there, Wilson stole the show with a shutout against UVM early on in the Bish injury period - I'll never forget a split save he made near the end of the game on a 2 on 0 or 2 on 1. I wish I had VHS of some of those old games on WABI. I'd love to rewatch the comeback against Harvard in the 04 NCAAs
I can't get the 6 on 3 vs Denver out of my mind. In Boston we should have won that one. That was painful. Not as painful as the shaft job we got in Minnesota. Man those were 2 that got awayThe Harvard game will ever be embossed in my mind. When I think of it (and I do on occasion), it makes me feel all happy inside.
In the spirit of online courtesy, I won't comment on the other matter, except to say that the words "beachball" and "stop" were often used in the same sentence.
Both painful, but slightly different. After the Denver game I wanted to break a hockey stick over the Denver goalie’s head. After the Minnesota game I wanted to break the hockey stick over our goalie’s head. Maine was 52.4 seconds away, arrggghhh. That was the worst feeling I’ve ever experienced live at a game. Denver: I can still see the disallowed goal, and the puck skipping over Leveille's stick on what would have been an easy tap-in on the 6x3.I can't get the 6 on 3 vs Denver out of my mind. Both games were killer. I was at the Denver game, absolutely brutal feeling after game. Young kid behind us started crying, so my kid started crying. Greenline back to hotel sucked so bad. Don't think I slept at all that night. Drove back to Maine in a daze. Its just a game but man didn't seem like at the time. Game in St Paul, I was more pissed at the refs, that POS Piotrotski.Denver: I can still see the disallowed goal, and the puck skipping over Leveille's stick on what would have been an easy tap-in on the 6x3.
Minnesota: Ref swallows whistle on MN goalie's obvious slash that would've evened-things up after they called Schutte for a trip... In OT. In Minneapolis.
Both sucked, but the MN thing is the one that sticks most in my craw. I wouldn't root for Goldy if they were playing Al Qaeda.
Is there a link for the ESPN2 piece? I have ESPN+ but can't find it listed there.Everything College Hockey‘s behind the scenes video dropped today and it’s really well done.
