University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Who TF cares about when the freakin penalty on Nadeau was called? The oxygen has left the room.....
We were trying to see what he actually did when the penalty was actually called. Instead we get video of previous goal celebration and skate by. Nadeau said in an interview that they thought he did something and he didn’t, and he just stared them down. Be nice to see video of what he did.

It was a trash call- Lavins in particular was running his mouth all night on UHN. Also the Scott slash was right in front of me and again game management awful call the guy dropped his stick. I'd be more interested to see that 2 minute penalty on Josh.

I've never even heard of a "taunting" penalty in hockey.

It's common knowledge that the boys rarely ask about each-others' mamas when in a scrum.

That stupid shit needs to go away yesterday. Call physical penalties, period.

"Siicks and stones"...

I can see a penalty for a throat slash but staring the bench down or calling UNH names etc is a BS call. Its 5 days till Maine plays again so we do what normally happens in a Internet forum beat the crap out of some inane topic :)

Nikoli Jensen gets suspended for Head shot to Josh Saturday night. How the league sees something the refs didn't is beyond me. Makes the refs suspect if you ask me
AJ Potvin is likely a UNH fan since he is from Goffstown, NH. The head of officials is a UNH grad so it surprises me to hear them say it was a major worth suspension. Connolly of the broadcast team was saying he didn’t think it was worthy of a major, which is a joke. It was a blind side hit to the head.

Also, it seems the officials got a bit too involved at the end almost like they didn’t like Maine putting the game out of reach. So my guess is there was a bit of bias that manifested itself into UNH’s favor once game tilted.

Interesting to note that Walshy's teams simply used to just steamroll the opposition in the first period at Alfond and more or less coasted to the end. Whereas Barr's boys battle their way through till the final buzzer to put teams away. Either works I guess but the ability to overcome adversity until the final buzzer is a good trait for a team to have. Gonna a fun finale to both the hockey frozen four and the bouncey ball final four...what with Coop at Duke (#4 ranking) and a kid I know on University of Florida team (Haugh from Penn currently ranked #3). Heres hoping Duke and UF meet up along the way and Maine and BC to match up again. Took a trip upta Gainsville to see UF destroy South Carolina this past weekend....place was electric, though not quite as much fun as a hockey game. >)

Coop talking about staying at Duke another year, now that would be interesting considering how young they are

Maine can clinch a home quarterfinal game with a win (of any kind) over UConn this weekend. If only able to get 0 or 1 point, Maine will have to wait until the Vermont games 2/28 and 3/1.

Roulliard probably would have called josh on embellishment.

I know reffing is tough and its easy to criticize but it does seem they have a bias against maine. Especially when playing down in Boston.

Fun fact, Mountain Base Brewing in Goffstown is owned and operated by the family of a former Black Bear Women's Hockey player.

Textbook headshot. From my angle he skated in, didn't attempt to make a hockey play and threw a high elbow. I mean Josh is short and Jensen is taller but still. And the refs even reviewed it and again decided for game management and called a minor. They should get a performance dock for this sort of stuff. Missing it live is one thing but they saw it, made a call, and then reviewed it and STILL got it wrong. Then proceeded to send Maine to the box for ticky tack crap.

FWIW, a win Friday at UCONN clinches Maine no worse than 3rd in the conference.

Maine needs to win 3 of the remaining 5 to lock in 2nd.

Maine probably needs to win out (with some luck) to win the regular season title.
