University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

For me this is probably a bigger series than Quinnipiac given how much Maine struggled on the road last year after the Merrimack series. All 12 league road games will be tough(even Lowell is going pretty good right now) and Maine is going to need to win at least four or five for a respectable finish in the league.

I agree with this 100%. This team is going to win in the comfy confines of the Alfond but you can't compete in Hockey East if you can't win in Boston.

Beyond the results I just hope we see a couple solid performances. It’s great Quinnipiac out choked Maine Saturday but for me it was pretty shocking to see a team that is as well coached and plays as hard as Maine fall apart like that.

I agree that this weekend is big for Maine just given the gauntlet that they’re in. They’re off to a good start. I think northeastern is going to be really good down the stretch so I think we might catch them at a good time. They did really well in the portal so it’s probably a matter of time before they start clicking.

They were .500 on the road last year which in my opinion is good enough, I’d love for them to improve a bit away from home but it’s hard to win on the road in college hockey.

Do away teams get tickets any more? I just called the maine ticket office trying to get NU tickets, but was told to call NU…I asked if away teams still get tickets, he said no. I cannot believe that is correct (the quinnipiac fans were clearly in the away team seats at alfond)

I would be surprised if they still did. I’m sure there is an arrangement for tickets for family of players but doubt there would be much more than that. I think the Quinnipiac fans you saw we’re probably friends/family of players.

I think Drew is right on this one. You can get a few tickets on Stubhub not insanely marked up right now but it's Friends and Family weekend at NU so there has been a shortage of tickets for quite some time.

I hope this link works. Black Bears of Boston is having a pregame event for alumni and fans. They also have $15 tickets here. I bought mine prior through SeatGeek for $30 but looks like
they still have some available.

When I spoke to NU ticket office they said to expect a sellout for family and friends weekend. I replied telling them to expect a lot of blue because the black bears are in town.

Does anyone know what the best seats are sight wise? Looks to be a big bowl with not any premium seating options

I've always enjoyed catching games at Matthews over the years but I'll be glad when we no longer play there. That place has been a legit house of horrors for Maine for the last 10+ years.

0-14-1 record in their last 15 games there and haven't won there since 2/25/12. Haven't had a road sweep at Matthews since Ben Bishop was still here.

Optimistic they shake that monkey off their back this weekend and get at least one win. Anything beyond that is a nice bonus!

The section(s) that got closed off last year at mathews due to the foundation structural issues makes it smaller too. It might be the visiting team end, dog pound??

NU shoots twice in front of the dog pound(sections 42-48). The closed end is where Maine shoots twice(31-34 & 56-58). Last year I thought the visiting section was 25 and 26. I sat down there and it was where there was a big concentration of Maine fans it seemed. That was at the end Maine shot at twice.

I have an extra ticket for both nights @ Northeastern if someone is looking for a ticket. Front row seats in section 14. Send me a message if interested.
