Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

I understand that the cage was actually bent and had to be replaced. Seriously. That doesn't necessarily mean anything other than a lot of force was applied. The cut was actually caused by the facemask digging into his nose.

The guy's 6'5" and well over 200 lbs (250 in Juniors). He's bigger than I am, and I think you remember the size of me. All we need to do is go back to the Cadillac/Pinto crash tests. He gets elbowing and CTH penalties basically for being too tall. I'll pull a Leaman when it comes to the hit because I didn't see it, but I wouldn't be shocked if your fellow fans were overreacting, especially since it sounds like he didn't miss a shift.

I'm glad you mentioned that, because although Ghost returned to the ice during the extended power play, he was by my observation in the locker room with the trainer for at least ten or more minutes and was not to the best of my recollection on the first several shifts during the major PP. First it took several minutes to scrape the blood off of the ice and the major penalty took a while especially with the stoppages. I've already acknowledged that Curadi is a big young man and is likely called out on occasion by officials if for no other reason than he is so big and easy to spot. Still and all he brought a reputation with him from junior hockey which highlighted his shall we say physicality and that's ok as long as its within the rules. I didn't see the entire sequence so I can only speculate that he may have euphemistically, taken some liberties. I still think the hitting from behind boarding on Lee was much more dangerous and troublesome. I hope we can move on.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Does anyone know how to take video from an archived game, and record it to put on YouTube? Union has the Saturday night game archived, would love to put the hit up so everyone can judge it themselves, and then we can move on like Wholin said.

From what I saw, a guy who is 6 inches taller, and 80 pounds heavier left his feet to deliver a hit directly to the head of a player who was looking the other way. These are the facts, not my opinion. I have the video of the incident up right now. If this hit had happened in the NHL or major junior where supplementary discipline is handed out, Curadi would be sitting for a very long time. It's a miracle Shayne wasn't hurt worse than he was, and if it wasn't for the cage would've been seriously injured.

I re-watched the Lee hit too, which was also an egregious penalty, but the result was not nearly as bad only because Vasaturo was lucky enough to be in front of the Union bench. If the hit had occurred in an area with glass the result would’ve been just as bad, if not worse than the Curadi/Gostisbehere incident.

I would be absolutely livid if a Union player had pulled stunts like these, and am not targeting RPI.

Sounds like a move from the playbook of the Cornell Skating Mother Teresas (BTW, you're welcome for the Cleary cup last year ;)) by holding up the game so Gostisbehere could conveniently get checked out. Granted I'd consider it payback after your team head-hunted D'Amigo (and so close to the WJC, too) a few years ago...

Speaking of Ghost, I hope he has a strong season for you guys, even if it just means padding my fantasy points. Also, hopefully he does make it to the WJC. That's one of the reasons I picked him.

I didn't see anything when your team head-hunted D'Amigo 3 years ago...

Do you have any proof of this? Are any of these games still on RPITV, because I can't remember any out of line hits on D'Amigo that were nearly as bad as anything that happened this weekend.

You're telling me twice an injury isn't good enough for you? Typical classlessness, just like your idiot poster AnthonySaxe who actually tweeted to a college kid that he's scum.

I bet you cheered when Higgs had his neck cut during our UAH games two years ago.

Are you talking about the sprained MCL he got in the RPI tournament championship game? That really sounds like a head hunting injury to me. By using those standards, I guess you could say that RPI was "head hunting" M. Bodie when he went down with a much more serious injury on Friday, because every hockey injury is caused by "head hunting".

On another note, please do not lecture our fanbase on class. If RB, WS, or Dr. D want to come on here and do so, they can as they have been and continue to be nothing but classy and civil on these forums. However, those who live in glass houses cannot throw stones. I could look up how you obsessively badmouthed Union in the USCHO live chats during the NCAA tournament the last two years. Go back to looking through every thread on these forums looking for an excuse to call Union "#26" and leave the hockey talk to the grownups. There's a reason why Red Cloud and the rest of the RPI fanbase on here don't take you seriously. To even hint that I may have taken any cheer in a serious injury to a student athlete is the lowest thing anyone has said to me on here.

Back to hockey...

I re-watched Saturday night's game earlier today and was really impressed with the play of our defense. Mat Bodie is irreplaceable, but the whole unit did a great job of stepping up in his absence. I was especially impressed with both Boyle and Vasaturo, who played with poise far beyond their respective experience levels. Boyle was the one who sprung Cruice on the breakaway that resulted in the penalty shot with a beautiful outlet pass. I feel as if Boyle will turn out to be quite a steal, and can’t believe that a top level Hockey East program didn’t at least take a flier on him.

And yet that same player then goes on to casually retweet a phone conversation in which makes fun of the penalty he got ejected for.

Where can one re-watch Saturday night's game?

Actually, I was referring to the game after that.

Conveniently get checked out? I was there-there was a LOT of blood on the ice-wasn't an unnecessary delay. I didn't see the hit (too busy worrying about the RPI player somebody (Bodie?) had in a headlock...At least they did hand out penalties for all that, even though it took a bit to sort out. Later in the game, they stopped bothering.), but Gostisbehere skated off with a towel to his face and Ken Schott said he had stitches. Dutchfan, I would love if you could find a way to put video up so we could stop quibbling about this and move on.

To think I left flag dude good rep and didn't even sign my name pleading for the same in return, thinking I wasn't an idiot!

Kid leaves his feet, crushes a facemask, leaves him bleeding on the ice, gets up, laughs maniacally at him as he leaves the ice. Thank god we've found the idiot, classless, message board member though.

Please someone get the video up, the argument on this is an absolute joke. If you saw it, you already know.

I don't go after people randomly; I only go after them if I have good reason to do so. We may disagree on team loyalties, which I'm willing to respect, but you are not going to get away with calling one of RPI's players lead-foot scum in a public setting.

I'll let you take a stab at what those records mean.
Just to set the record straight, IMHO although Union has been on the rise for several years, it would not surprise me if they have peaked.
