Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Union has picked up another recruit for 2013-2014, 6'6 211 pound forward Eli Lichtenwald from Omaha of the USHL. Lichtenwald has 9 points in 20 games so far this season.

I don't even remember pairwise being calculated until December or January in prior years. Maybe it's just an age thing. ;)
I'm pretty sure you are correct that USCHO hasn't done PWR this early in the past. One of the comparisons is record against TUCs, but only if a team has played at least 10 TUC games. At this point, some teams haven't even played 10 games yet so that is a whole comparison that ends in a tie.. really need to wait till everyone has played 20-25 games to get an accurate read on things.

Please overlook Colgate(until after you play them) the frosh are outstanding...very quick !
No Way Shabby!! I'm sure nobody, particularly Union's coaches, are overlooking Gate this year. Definitely an up and coming team that should get 1st round home ice and maybe better if you get some good goaltending. I am looking forward to seeing the Spink twins when they come to Messa, though may feel differently depending on the outcome of the game.

In case anyone missed it yesterday, Ikkala is "most likely" out this weekend after getting injured on Sunday. In surprising news, M.Bodie is now day to day and may play this weekend.

I noticed Cole being attended to late in the game Sunday but was hoping it was nothing serious. Too bad for Cole, I think he had been playing extremely well and was getting time on the power play.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

In the few years I've been going to games, tonight ranks with the worst of them. They weren't going to win tonight without a much better showing than last weekend, but they played even worse. At this point, it's hard to argue Union is anything more than 3rd best team in the league. I guess everyone has their off nights, but this is three or four in a row now.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

I think DU, QU and Yale are easily playing better than we are plus Cornell and SLU should be in the conversation...
We might be a middle of the pack team until we wake up and realize this new ECAC won't be a pushover any more...

However, I do like how strong the ECAC is now and anyone who wins this league nowadays is a team to be feared in the play off run.

Keith.

Shoulda realized that last year when you had to rely on RPI beating Cornell to sneak into first place. ;)

Bitter, are we?

The Big Red have had a rough start to the 2012-2013 ECAC campaign as well, so holster your rocks in the greenhouse please...

Besides, let's not live in the "glory years" of the past like so many on these boards do...

We have had a few good years where things have gone our way through hard work and some good breaks...

It should now be clear that banners and polls don't equal current success. We need to give the proverbial 110% every night like we have done in the past if we want to be there in the end....

The Q and the Tigers already took you guys behind the woodshed this year...

QU and DU are the only teams in the ECAC right now that can really crow about anything...

For the record, I was pleased that RPI stole your third period lead and slammed the door on you in OT. I could care less about the Cleary. It was the ECAC title and the Frozen Four that mattered. That game in your barn spoke volumes about finishing strong in this league and it also proved that HVCC was finally good for something... ;) Wait for it.....:D
