Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 Season Thread "We Can See Cleary Now"
I feel fortunate to see Union walk away with a tie tonight. Down 4-2 in the second period and (for the most part) struggling mightily in the third... it wasn't looking good until that late goal. Stevens wasn't that great tonight, but he deserves a break. It was only the second time this year he's started back to back games (the other was in early December) so maybe the stamina wasn't all the way there tonight. I'd have to see it again, but I think he was left out to dry on the first goal (which I think came off a turnover). But I could be wrong. In the Friday post-gamer, Bennett hinted that Grosenick's injury wasn't any more serious than Jooris' injury (which kept him out a weekend last month) so maybe Grosenick returns next weekend.
Oddly, the thing I'll remember most about tonight... well, two things.... the crowd (amazing) and the ice maintenance work. I've been going to hockey games all my life, but have never seen someone spray a fire extinguisher on the ice... that was kind of a spectacle of its own.
