Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Still haven't booked my flights yet, nor have I bought tickets. They are ridiculously expensive! Am I wrong for hoping that the price for flights goes down?

In general, yes. The best prices are usually only available 14 days ahead of time, and there's usually another bump in prices 7 days ahead. I wouldn't wait if I were you.

Good luck - go ECAC!

Or you could take the bus with the real fans. Brutal trip.

Join Union men’s hockey in Tampa, Florida as they make a historic trip to the NCAA Division I Frozen Four. Brown Coach will provide round trip transportation, departing the Union College campus on Wednesday, April 4th at 7:00AM, scheduled to arrive in Tampa at Noon on Thursday, April 5th. Union will face off in the first national semi-final with Ferris State at 4:30PM. The bus will return to campus directly following the conclusion of Saturday’s 7:00PM championship game. The cost of the trip is $190 per person. Game tickets must be purchased separately through the Union College ticket office. Tickets are $195 each and allow entry to both semi-final games on Thursday as well as the championship game on Saturday, April 7th.

For more information, purchase tickets or reserve your spot on the bus, please contact Sarah Lewis at 388-6284 or by email at lewiss@union.edu before Friday, March 30th at Noon. A minimum number of travelers will be required.

It's great that they're offering this, but wow...29 straight hours on the bus would drive me nuts. I used to take the train from Albany/Rensselaer to Florida with my family and that was pretty difficult.

I still wish I could go. This year - of all years - I actually get tickets through the NCAA system AND Union makes the FF, but I miss out because I went and got a new job. :(

Sounds like the bus ride the RPI band had to Green Bay last year. I remember the Union offered seats on our bus to the general population, but no one took them up on the offer. I guess something about a 19-hour bus ride with the pep band didn't appeal to most people.

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Union will be running a bus trip down to Tampa for $190 for those that can't afford the flight per Schott's twitter. I hope to see everyone take this opportunity. :)

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 season thread #2

Might as well throw in a plug for Katie O'Byrnes. They will be running several happy hour and appetizer specials for Union game on Apr 5th along with BC/Minn game. Hope to see same crowd that was in Friday afternoon for Mich State game though I know some of you are headed down to Tampa.

TU story about Josh and Mark Jooris (a former RPI standout) - http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Union-s-Jooris-hopes-to-match-father-s-feat-3442615.php

As much as it would have been great to have Josh play at RPI, Mark says he wanted his only son to make his own decisions, clear his own lane in the sport. One visit to Union, and Josh said that's where he wanted to go.

And so, his freshman year, Josh sat in the penalty box during the Union-RPI game listening to RPI fans shout, "You'll never be as good as your dad was" and "You're a disgrace to the family name."
