Congrats to Union! You won the game you had to win to lock it down decisively, and that is the mark of a champion. I hope it's a Union-Yale final at AC in 3 weeks.

Well, at least I can take solace in the fact that Clarkson can't end up @ Itza Messa for the playoffs this year. Congratulations.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, staff, and anyone else who helps behind the scenes. The Union faithful can't thank you enough for all that you have given us this season. I am still in shock that we won the Cleary Cup and it has been a dream season to be a Union fan! Keep fighting, U, and I hope I have the need to book hotel rooms in Atlantic City and beyond!

They say the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra. After what seemed like a baffling performace on Friday night the Dutchmen were not to be denied against a very respectable Princeton team. That little extra has been apparent all season long, no more so than in the season finale. Even the most apathetic alum would have to be moved by this tremendous achievement. The tangible resources at Union pale in comparison to the larger schools, yet Nate Leaman can coax more miles per gallon out of the Union vehicle than anyone could possibly imagine. He is a veritable maestro whose opus deserves thundering applause!

It hasn't sunk in yet for me, either. :cool:

Ken Schott's article says it all - I think of all of the players in the D-I era who struggled through the difficult seasons (the 3-win season in 1999 comes to mind) and wish they could have been a part of this. I'm sure they're all smiling, nonetheless.

Congrats to everyone involved with the program - I think Brock Matheson's speech included everyone except for the academy. :D

Now it's time to win the tournament!

Even when Union had teams that won some big games, I never thought I'd see them get to the point of even competing for first place let alone winning the regular season. Maybe ride a hot streak to a tournament championship, but the regular season title seemed out of reach. Thank you to the players and coaches who have built this program through some very difficult times over 20 years. Thank you to this year's team and staff for such a great ride. We're all going to hate to see this season end, so keep it going for a while!

I think that having endured the bad times for so long makes this accomplishment so much more meaningful. Congratulations to the team, the coaching staff and even the administration which if not lavish in its support of the program is infinitely more supportive than in the 40% days. Finally also, congratulations to the dedicated fans who have been behind this program throughout. Union Hockey, Cleary Cup Champions....Priceless!

Congratulations on the first title for Union. From one fan of a program trying to build a little history to you guys doing the same thing, great job! Good luck the rest of the way, and maybe we'll see you down the line.

To the Union faithful.....congratulations. Outstanding job by the coaching staff and players. To get to unchartered territory without previous experience is a process where a lot of things have to fall into place. This team is playing consistent hockey with it's own identity no matter who the opposition is. Good luck moving forward.....Charlie Morrison is smiling!!

I am also trying to grasp that, after 20 years - many of which had Union being the cellar-dweller and doormat of the ECAC - we have finally made it - we are the champions! In the early days of D-1, no matter how bad Union was we never missed a game. We always had the feeling that might be the night we won. I remember listening to the student radio guys, during one of the away games, become unintelligible because "we won one!!!" They were so excited you could barely understand what they were saying. It's been a long haul, but thanks to Nate and his team's work ethic, we have a group of athletes who can beat anyone. It is truly awesome to watch them play. Thanks for the best season ever.

Congrats to U For winning the Cleary cup.You have a very very tough club to beat and have waited patiently for a long time for this... Enjoy... until we meet again.
